We don't get sunsets this brilliant in Chicago, and with so many freakin' trees and houses, there's very few places to capture a sunset, period. And yeah, I'm breaking a rule for posting a second set of pics on the same day, but I've been on the road a lot, and getting ready to go to Tucson early next week for another wedding shoot. So hopefully I don't get flogged too badly for this.

I am with GoodEgg on this Ron. #3 is a little hot for me too. The harshest light is on the oldest one obviously because she is the closest one to the flash. Perhaps switching her with the boy who is farthest from the light would have evened it up. Beautiful shots!

Thanks, guys!
I'm shooting with my 70-200 lens on all of these, and simply zoomed in tighter on No. 3. The Einstein is in the exact same spot, and so is my wife (as where the kids were). The reason No. 3 is hotter is because the sun is going down and I needed less flash to match the sky/sunset, but I hadn't turned it down yet. I turned it down on No. 4 to compensate for the sun having gone down, and matching the sky better.

It's a really fun set .. how great to have a family that really enjoy working with you. Pics to last a lifetime.
Thanks, appreciate it. But you couldn't be more wrong about my family's willingness to get their pictures taken. But when we do get them in front of the camera, my wife and I know how to crack them up and get them engaged in the shot. My boy here almost refused to get in this shot, and I was a bit worried about whether he'd have an attitude in it or not. But he came around and we pulled it off.

Great little set Ron. Didn't you have a little tripod with you so you can get in there?
Bud, Bud, Bud... Yes, I did have a tripod. No, that's not going to happen, at least on pics I post on FM. Have you noticed my avatar/profile pic over there on the left?

i like the 4th one the best. the first three are well executed, but they look, to me, like someone could've done that in photoshop. i like the kids "in" the environment. anyway, lovely family. nice job.

Great pictures! But I agree that the flash needs to be dialed back. Also, consider a gel to match the ambient light color? I've honestly never used them but from what I understand, that's one of their functions so I thought I'd throw it out there.
