Nisa,-- What lens for this portrait?

It's refreshing to see a really beautiful face in a portrait NOT messed up with excessive
makeup, as happens so often here in the States. There does appear to be some skin
softening applied in post, but I wonder if she could have gone without that kind of help.

I use only two my favorite lens for my models, portraits - Nikkor: 85mm 1,4 and 200 f2.0 VRII. Fot this particular image I used 85mm 1,4.
The Model Agency I shoot for doesn't like too much skin softening and makeup but I still do some frequancy seperation retouching. Those young models usually have a great skin so it's helps a lot.

Sorry for english gramma it's not my native language

Nisa,

I'm beginning to get insanely jealous of your access to beautiful portrait faces. Hope that crosses the language barrier as the compliment it is....

I have the 85 1.4 G also, but I just haven't been able to use it as much as I would like. 2015 should provide more opportunities.

I wasn't sure whether the portrait involved a small amount of skin softening or not. There are young models/subjects whose skin needs no help at all and softening in post actually takes away from the quality of the portrait. Very good skin softened artificially immediately looks plastic, artificial. There has to be some texture.

You do VERY good work.

If you learn how to do frequancy seperation retouching you are not going to lose texture on the skin. I hope you will get opportunity to use this wonderfull lens 85 1,4G and i'm sure you will love it. It's pure magical lens for close up portraits .

Good lord Nisa! I'm not an envious person by nature but if you keep uploading these magnificent portraits, that may change. Absolutely outstanding in every way!

Nisa,

That last one is a perfect example of what I meant when I talked about preserving texture. Another beautiful portrait.
