In fact, your past three, including this one, have been terrific. And the portrait (#18 on p. 23) was publication quality, getting right up there close to world class. Really fine work.

Effectively my first shot with the D810. In our first snowstorm. Just a grab with the 105mm f/2.8G VR lens
Love the shot! Love the bird! Love the place you live! Is this a raven you have befriended? Hard for me to tell sometimes; i.e. raven or crow.
Let's see some more of your wildlife shots with the D810!
Any current or former D700 shooters here? I love my D300 and D700 but want to upgrade. I would actually like to get a D4S but really want somewhere around 24 MP's. The D4s has too few and the D810 has "too many."
I have been out of the loop for a while and apart from the extra computer time to process such large images, many folks were leery of such high pixel counts leading to diffraction, moire and other concerns.
Maybe I am too old school about such high pixel counts and that would good to hear. Still I kinda wish there was a D700 replacement with the 24mp count but not in a less robust body like some of NIkon's other DSLR's.
So if have upgraded from a D700 or have experience with one and can say, "no looking back," that would help me out.

The D810, unlike the D800, is a great upgrade from the D700. I also have the D300/D700 combo, and in many ways, the D810 is able to replace both due to the rather high pixel count in DX mode. Still, I wouldn't mind a fast DX camera in the D810 body for sports and as backup. As things are now, the backup for a D810 would be a D700, a D800/E or another D810.
I have chosen to keep the D700, at least for now, but I must admit that when shooting with both bodies together, the D700 shows it age. It's still a great camera, but the D810 is greater, and not least quieter, much quieter.
