Hey All,
I was recently visiting the Valley of Fire State Park and took this "lighting strike" shot at night. The place has some amazing lighting going on now because of the monsoon season and lightings are easy to come by. For this image I simply kept on exposing for 30 seconds and waited for "some lighting to occur". I think I took 10 shots before this one happened. Now, I do realize there isn't much in the foreground but unfortunately the area of intense lightings was on this open space to the left and with the given time I had this is the best I could do as far as the composition goes. I like it nonetheless
Any thoughts?
I might suggest you go back and alter your sharpening/'clarity'/whatever to reduce the obvious light and dark haloes on the horizon. FWIW, I'd also crop a bit off the right, centering the lightning in the frame.
Great shot man! Only after 10 shots and you got this beaut? you got all the luck man. I think the lightning and the clouds are so overpowering the lack of foreground doesn't bother me. I don't need any lead in lines to see where my eyes suppose to go. It goes straight for the bright spot . I would even crop a bit more off the bottom.
