While Ive been hanging around on these forums for quite some time now, I figure I can maybe now post some of my work. Ive mostly shot sports up until the last year or so and Ive been slowly transitioning to doing more senior work. Its fun to actually have a little control of what I shoot...even if it is just a little.
This young lady was a real pleasure to work with and she practically made my job for me. If she could have mashed the buttons somehow I might have been useless. Anyway, the light was pretty good today, but just a bland boring sky. Oh well, guess you cant have it all.
Anyway, Ive learned so much here and figured I would share. Thanks for looking and CC is welcome.
I honestly didnt touch the eyes. I thought about toning them down a bit, but that seemed wrong. Thanks for the CC though. I will ease back the skin a touch, although she did have some sunburn I was having trouble covering...I guess I went too far. Ive always hated when its over done so now Im bothered.
The eyes do look "unreal" but I remember a couple of years ago another photographer here posted shots of a model with eyes that looked almost alien, they were so light in tone and beautiful. I even saved a couple of the shots because they were so bizarre. It happens.
These are gorgeous though the skin looks a bit oversmoothed for my taste.
Thanks again for the comments. I believe one of my problems is a little to much sharpening for the web. They were shoot raw, but ya they all seem a little over processed the more I look. I will bring it all back a bit. Thanks
Well, either my monitor is off or my taste runs a little different than those that have already commented, but I think these are very nice images.
I like 1 and 2 better than 3, but I believe with a little OCF the third could have taken the cake. Beautiful girl with stunning eyes, great smile and nicely captured!
Thanks. I brought my flash, but I've been shooting natural light and to be honest it just slipped my mind. I like the look of flash, but it's kind of like skin smoothing, I don't like it when it's gone to far. (yea I went to far ). But thanks for the kind words. I still have more to learn.
I think 2 is an excellent pose and expression. Agree that some reworked processing would help. Not sure the colors add anything in 2... Would make a nice B&W.
Well, I went back and took some advice and the picture below is what I ended up with. Pic on left is SOOC, and right is my edited verion. There is 0 sharpening in raw as well as no sharpening in post. All I did was some overall color adjustments, blemish removal, and played with the contrast a bit. Im really enjoying the comments and CC. That said, still too much? Should I just shut down my pc and sell all of my equipment and sell vacuum cleaners door to door?
In #1 I would clone out the bright spot on the left as it keeps catching my eye and if you have the time I would clean up just a few of the stray hairs as well.
I like the last photo (really like them all)....would have looked better with a ND filter or a bank of flashes to over power the sun........would be nice to see the pier a little better.....also she is pretty and that always helps too!
Thanks guys and gals for all of the comments. I'm going to have to give this flash thing a try sometime. I just haven't built my confidence level up yet...but I will keep trying. Thanks again for all of the comments and help.
