This is an awesome set. The first roadrunner and armadillo are favorites!
Santa Clara is a must visit spot for me... I'm thinking of going there in March 2015... do you know, is this a good time to visit?

Another great set, Ron! I really like the Bronzed Cowbird shot and the last one is very cool
Socrate
Thanx Socrate. The cowbird can look downright evil with the right pose. And that was my first wild Tarantula.

Nice! Lovely stuff Ron. Can't remember a cowbird looking so good, and the RR portrait, down on the deck with the squirrel and the dillo. Brilliant work. Great to see telephoto macro as well. Thanks
Phil
Thanx Phil. I'm glad you really liked the cowbird. As far as the last shot goes - 'ya gotta shoot with what ya got".

Crazy good IQ on these Ron, something about that environment down there puts such a wonderful illumination on the birds. Nice work on the spider with the long glass Your Bunting is fantastic and best Cowbird I've seen in a loooong while Superstar head shot of the RR Ron and detail for miles
Great memories of your trip I'm sure and hope you have more to share
Tom
You are too kind Tom - but I'll take it. I'm still working on images, and the first day's images are on my laptop that I can't seem to transfer to my pc.

Excellent shots. I grew up in that part of Texas and was once a ranch member at Santa Clara. I couldn't take advantage of it like I wanted too because I was working on my PhD and trying to be a husband/father at the same time but I managed to get out some. I have a write up of the ranch on my blog. Dr Beto runs a first rate ranch. http://kevinjhurtphotography.wordpress.com/?s=Santa+Clara&submit=Search
Thanx Kevin. It's a great place to shoot, and they took good care of us.
Odd outline on #1 all around Ron? I like what is going on though
Mrs Bunting is charming, well captured beauty by you!
#3 Cow is winner winner for me That's how you do darks! Crazy sweet shot man, love it
RR head shot...........spectacular!
Hmm that perch is bothering me, just takes too much from subject for me
Mexican rat is great at that level and on that color BG
That is one dilly of a Dillo Pattern and detail and exposure are excellent sir
#8 must have been difficult to work, image looks a little 'flat' yet to me. Could I have a RAW please
Nice takes Ron, lots of good photography here on your part, I like them
Karl
Wow Ron. Two great sets in one thread. Hard to pick a favorite as they are all excellent. I don't think I have ever seen a spider shot with a 500mm f4 lens.
What a terrific set, Ron. Looks like you hit the jackpot on your trip. These are all great shots. Heading up to CT this afternoon. I'll wave at you when I get near Richmond.

Ron,
The Peanut Gallery thinks these pictures are swell.
So swell that it's almost impossible to pick the roadrunner portrait as my favorite.
It's not superior to all the other superior images, but I've watched road runners in the desert, and they always tickle me fancy (tee hee).
Charlie
Thanx Charlie - as long as I don't have to tickle you.

All are beautiful. Loved the armadillo and the roadrunners--and the bronzed cowbird.
Thanx Nancy.

Wonderful, Ron! Beautiful images, fantastic detail, lighting, and color, but my favorite aspect of the set is the diversity!
Birds, spiders, rodents (maybe a communion prayer would be appropriate here), and alien-looking armored armadillos!
They're all lovely but my favorites are the dillo and the RR portrait. ~Greg
Thanx Greg. I'm glad you enjoyed these.

Good eye Karl. I think the amount of feathering in two of my steps was off. I didn't like the perch either, but I did like the colors the RR was displaying. Aaaand thanx ~ Ron
