This is the second time I'd been to Panther Creek Falls in Washington in 2 weeks. I was kind of bored shooting comps at the first drop where the water converges. I loved the challenge of crossing this stream waist-high to get an interesting perspective on this fall. I did a ninja like move to duck under a log, and all kinds of crazy stuff.
My boots were filled with water and I was completely immersed in the landscape. I wouldn't have it any other way.
Thanks for looking!
Edit 5/14 removed slight yellow cast/slightly boosted greens per suggestions here

Gorgeous capture and exposure. Your shutter speed is perfect for this falls. My only comment is that it seems the color temp/balance may benefit from some slight tweaking.

Fabulous image. Your efforts certainly paid off with this outstanding capture. Do you tether your camera to you or protect it in some way from the water?

Would you care to expand?

I don't do any of that. If I slipped, I'd be screwed . Any recommendations?
Sure - I'll try. So many of the really great PNW waterfall pics have what I see as a signature green color foliage. It could be a Canon vs Nikon sensor or could be color temp/white balance - or differences in monitors/browsers. Its hard to comment more on a posted jpg but the highlights seem slightly yellowish (more in top center) and maybe a slight addition to blue in highlights would help. Its just that I've seen some great pics turn even more natural with such subtle tweaking.

This particular angle is getting so popular this year, and for good reason. The fanning out of the water on the bottom really makes the whole composition soar. Nice job.
Now, a question to the many of you who have images from the base of the falls (either this or the level above): exactly how hard is it to get down there? I've only been to PCF once, and restricted myself to the viewing platform on a very wet and sloppy day, but would like to get at least to the base of the upper part of the falls if possible. I've seen plenty of shots from the base from other photographers, but am mindful of Bryan Swan's warning that one shouldn't try to reach the base unless one is an experienced climber (which I definitely am not ), and preferably have a rope. Is it really that difficult, or is there an easier route of reaching the base that would be safe for a non-climber to attempt?
Wow, you are a real go-getter. I would fall in and ruin my camera and lens and end up with nothing to show for it. Great work and one does feel like he is in the water with you. Very nice job. Dave
I just voted for this one, that's how good I think this is. You really nailed this shot. Love the composition, the mood, everything!
And it's good to know that my ninja exercises will come in handy the next time I make it up there to shoot waterfalls!
Jim
Wow I really appreciate that Jim. Yes I'm sure you have plenty of ninja skills, you've got to with some of the images you make!

Thanks very much for the feedback. I made a slight adjustment in the greens based on your feedback.
