Of course you don’t have to bother with what I and others wouldn’t bother :-)
If you don’t understand why I don’t post pictures here, I’ll tell you. It is simple. Because it would be ridiculous to pay for showing them. Unless I had an overinflated ego or irresistible urge to impress others or (false) hope to sell some prints. I think that the owner of this forum, and a multimillionaire, should be paying people who display solid work and thus promote his site.
As far as photo gear, I recall your perennial squabbles with PetKal, unless I’m confusing you with someone else, claiming that the lesser gear (like an ancient 100-400, noisy 7D… etc.) can equal performance of the top Canon line, yet your pictures always fail to support these claims.
This time you like the Tamron budget lens. It may be adequate for many, but not for me, and I have the same right to express my opinion as you. ...Show more →
Now I remember why you were on my "HIDE ME" list. Why don't you learn how to use quotations & emoticons?
So everyone posting images on this site has an over-inflated ego or irresistible urge to impress others. You are so funny, and it sounds like you are the egotistical one. If you are so great, why do you even bother posting on this site?
Yeah, Fred should pay you for posting your exceptional images on his site. You are a joke.
Please quote your claims where I have said that lesser gear can equal the performance of the top Canon line.
So what if I like the Tamron lens, and so what if others do, and so what if it is not for you?
Back to my "HIDE ME" list for you. I can see why you were called a Flame-baiter on another thread.
Express your opinions all you want, I won't be reading them. Bye, Bye.

I only posted the images I did to show what the lens is capable of so others can make an informed decision as to whether the lens is right for them. I figure if I can do something virtually anybody else can do at least as well.
After I got jumped by one of the Moderators about liking a certain landscape I have been pretty wary about posting photos.
I like mine. I have more expensive lenses but I still like the Tamron. Yes it will have some limitations but it is only $1100 bucks!

And thanks for posting them. It can be helpful to others. Too bad some other people can't grasp that concept.
You wrote all this because I didn’t like your heron “masterpiece”?
I’m on your "HIDE ME" list and you asked me to show my picts? Does this make sense and who’s a joker?

So what? It is simple: you like it and I don’t.

Dear Dr. Lora. Thanks for your free internet psychoanalysis :-)
BTW, if I were an egoist, I would probably change my name from Lan11 to “ImagemasterOne” :-)

I answered in the previous post.
“Yeah, Fred should pay you for posting your exceptional images on his site. You are a joke.”
How did you reach this conclusion? Did it occur to you there could be free posting? I guess not. You shouldn’t talk about jokers and egoists. Trust me.

Read your many exchanges with Petkal, especially his replies, with good comprehension.

I use Lightroom and don't use Save for Web. I'm using an iOS app called Mosaic to sync select shots via the Cloud to my iPad, so I have examples to upload from the iPad. Somewhere in the workflow the EXIF is getting striped out, but I'm not sure where
Strange EXIF. It shows neither the camera nor the lens.
It's always interesting to see people display their character (good and bad) on this site.
For what it's worth, I received my 150-600 from B&H about a month ago. I doubt that it has any new upgrades. Full disclosure here ---- I am very much an armature photographer, and not boasting on any of my images. I also have a Canon 100-400 that I have used for 2 years. On my 5DM3 the auto focus on both lens is so similar, I can't say one is better than the other. Ai server is a tad faster on the 100-400, but the Tammy is certainly suitable for BIF in decent light. I'm keeping both lens. Would I trade them both for a Canon 500 or 600? In a heartbeat. From all the posts about the Tammy, it certainly looks like many expected a $10,000 lens for around $1,000.
I'm greedy though, I may attempt to use an extender for the Tammy. Anyone try that?
You are absolutely correct. Not in those precise words. I apologies if I inferred that, however after reading dozen's of posts, I believe a few expected a bit too much from a inexpensive lens. Like I said; I'm no expert or authority, just an armature hobbyist.
OK! I'm just about ready to raise the white flag and give up on this lens. It's been on order since april at Adorama. My 1st alternative is the Canon 100 400 5.6 with the Canon 1.4 III tele extender, with the Canon 200 dollar rebate this combo is about 2K. 1.5 for the lens and 500 for the extender. Before I pull the trigger I have some questions. Does this combo work on autofocus? What is the effective F stop at 400mm? (It should be f8) Are there any other hidden pitfalls to this combo?

When asking about AF and TC's you should mention what body you are using. You should also read about the pitfalls of using TC's.
If you are using a 7D, it will not AF with a 1.4x TC unless you use a non-reporting TC or tape the pins. You lose one f-stop with a 1.4 TC, therefore would be shooting at f8 at 400mm.
Back to the original question, I rented this lens from my local shop for the week of June 16. I decided to be put on their waiting list the week of June 30th. I was number 2 on the list. I picked it up Saturday August 9th.. My point is the local shop's list may be short enough to get the lens quicker than the big boys.
Howatthunter: I have a 7D and 5D III and that's kinda what I was afraid of. I'm not one to tape pins and Rube Goldberg something. The only Local shop we had in Ft Lauderdale went totally Nikon and then went out of business. I want a lens or combo that works with the 7D that's more of a field lens for me. I usually deal with Adorama and buy the warranty because I can destroy expensive tech in a hurry and 60 bucks for a warranty is reasonable. If anyone knows of a combo that will fit my needs or a shop in the south Fl area I can go to I'd appreciate the help. This lens has been backordered since Apr 3rd and I am ready to cut my losses.
After waiting 3 months, my lens showed up last Wednesday morning and was on the way back to the Big House in New York the same afternoon
I was not too happy with the image quality on my 70D and 1D2n.

b&h notified me that my order of 4/22 finally shipped and should be here early next week.
The serial number is in the 0050xx range so I am a bit concerned that this might have traveled cross-country a few times. I seem to recall that recent deliveries were in the 7000 or 9000 range?
I called Tamron with the serial number and they could not say if it has the updated firmware already.
