I used to work for a National company in Europe. These brought back fond memories. an excellent set of an often overlooked detail and strength. Thanks
Cool stuff! I'm looking forward to going back through my years of shooting rehearsals to come up with the best 20-25 images that represent the dancers' feet. Now, just have to find the time.

My daughter started ballet when she was 5 and did it every week until she graduated from high school at 18......it is a commitment both in time and physical and mental punishment...what they make look so easy was prepared for more than any of us would care to do......

Ha! Thanks! By the way, dancers have to have a huge level of tolerance for pain. Their feet are tortured.

Don't stop here...toes that live in those toe-shoes are mangled and could tell another side to this story if you could catch them before or after the session

Great pictures! As someone who works in the healthcare field and who has talked to sports physical therapists before, I can appreciate the amount of discipline it takes to get their bodies to do what they do, and at the same time I can't help but worry for their joints. Unfortunately a lot of these kiddos push themselves too hard, and they can suffer from it not only at the moment (as is clear in the pictures), but also later in life.

Thanks, Parkerer9! I've got a few years of these shots. Need to go back and look at them and put together a series. These shots were just from about 10 minutes in one rehearsal.

Thanks! Not sure how much it affects them later in life. A lot of dancers become teachers or open their own dance schools, and most remain in great shape.

Friscoron,
very well done, sir. Inspiring for me.
I have been attempting something
of a similar bent, but w/ hands, as i am by
day a hand therapist.
a variety of subjects... wielders, mechanics,
fighters.
if only my images were as strong as these.

Awesome! The hands would be an interesting subject in those occupations. Totally makes sense!

Take care, Bob
Love it, Bob! I'm sure Nina knows all about what these feet go through.

Excellent series Ron, the bring out the toughness and dedication required to be a competitive dancer. Last is my favorite but really like all of them.
Thanks, Gary! Looking forward to seeing some of your shots from today's shoot! It's kinda cool when my fave in a given series is pretty much everyone else's fave as well. That doesn't happen very often.
