@thw2 - Those were my thoughts when I first saw it - just interesting, but get the right conditions and like so many scenes it really comes to life. I'm just glad / lucky it actually happened, really thought I was going to have to try again and again before it worked out.
It's definitely one of those WOW factor shots! I saw the image a few days ago when you posted it in a forum reply about the 14-24mm and did a double take then. Congrats on getting the image and the win!

Steve I think this is a great shot, I personally would have liked a tad more contrast/darker shadows.
Thanks so much for your comments and tips, I must learn how to do this focus stack.
Thanks!
I agree with the contrast / shadows - the final version on my website already has those changes. Nothing sweeping, but it does make it look better to me.
gr8 location and execution,
looking at how the light plays in coming from behind the rocks to the left, i would of expected and wanted the shadow of the cave arch to be a tad darker to reflect it,
@parsons - I went ahead and added my new version of the image to the front page. I had it on my website, but I've had a couple comments about the shadows / lack of contrast and since I agree, I thought I should share the result here as well.
