I don’t know how long that was going on, but when I got there the little baby GBH looked like it was exhausted trying to swallow a big fish. Mission impossible! after every try it would fall on its side in the bottom of the nest and lay down for a while, with the fish still inside its mouth, and then try again. That went on for a while. I couldn’t tell if the parent was trying to help him/her or just trying to take it out of its mouth. For a moment I thought the baby was dying.
You’ll see the end of the story and in the last pic you can also appreciate how little the baby was.
These were taken with the 70D and the 500MM.
C&C welcome
Socrate
Awesome sequence Socrate...mom ought to know that the kids don't have the same capacity as she does...I guess they have no way to break it up into small pieces but you would think they could rip smaller bits off and feed it to them piece meal...remind me to send her a memo

Thanks, Eric. The fish some how was w/o the head when I saw that scene and mama looked worried all the time. Surprised the "big brother" didn't try to take that fish from the lil one

These are so wonderful Socrate! It's such a sweet story - so glad it ended happy I was worried about the baby.
The last one is so preciously sweet
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, BB. There was another couple of photogs taking pics next to mee and one of them said: " That was something! I thought the baby was going to die any minute"
You could really see the straggle! But, as always, mama took care of it

What a great feel in the light and processing Socrate. A softer contrast yet pleasing color and abundant details throughout the set. I'm intrigued by the presentation and appreciative of the events you captured, very very cool Socrate, thanks for sharing.
Oh my ! Does make you wonder if they ever do choke.
Great series Socrate . You certainly captured a sequence that most will never see. Whew , so glad it had a happy ending. So well done.
I'm surprised mom didn't try to regurgitate the fish later after some breakdown of the fish. At our local rookery, I've seen them feed half digested fish to the young ones. Great series and sequence Socrate, glad mom fixed the situation.
