Yellowstone in Winter is a landscape photographers dream come true. Their are literally top quality images around every corner and what makes it even better there are relatively few people around.
You have to be on a guided tour of some sorts, either a snowmobile or snow coach. I charter a snow coach for a full eight days during my workshops to Yellowstone. Eight days may seem a bit long for some, but you are bound to get a bit of bad weather plus there is just so much to photograph.

Nice. Are the roads plowed or do you have to hire a snowmobile?
Going in from West Yellowstone you can rent on limited availability snowmobiles. Many photographers and tours use the Snowcoaches that are available. Many are 18 passenger van that have been converted to tracks. Our Photo Club has charter these and it's a great trip. Also some I know have had teaching tours. In my younger days I have gone in and skied around. J. R.
