Such wonderful images, Lisa, as always. Your daughter is beautiful, and that location is spectacular!

I wonder if that only applies unilaterally...

I ask that as a past professional student of logic and semantics amongst other things. I won't mention my opinion on the matter of having guns one way or another as it is irrelevant but merely on the fairness or the quote or lack thereof. I hope it doesn't get misinterpreted as disrespect but the very quote applied to the OP would not be terribly kind. To wit, I may be against guns and express my opinion on a public forum regardless of the OP's request to refrain from doing so. If she wants to be offended then it's her issue, not mine. Doesn't seem all that fair does it...

Further, using words like "drivel" to describe another's opinion seems categorically dismissive. Having beliefs is great. Standing by them is better. Living by them is splendid but I end with a quote by Lord Bertrand Russell, "I shall never die for my beliefs for I might be wrong."

No one in their right mind would argue that your work is beyond reproach. Your technique is masterful and the images you produce are lovely to say the least but one catches more bees with honey. It is ok to have dissenting views and to express them but to dismiss those of others with merely because they don't align with yours seems quintessentially petulant.

Are you aware that you posted these photos on the 15th anniversary of the Columbine High School shooting? Was this intentional? Just curious.

Are you seriously that dense/stupid?

I do like the photos but I had problems with the contrast between the clothing and the props, specifically #6. Some of them remind me of those ads where a pretty model in a lace or sun dress holds a skateboard.

Even if she does skateboard nobody really buys it.

I've seen plenty of pretty girls at the range but none, so far anyway, and I seriously hope it changes, were wearing a lace dress. If that was what was meant by "contrast" then it was achieved.

I must ask, is there a reason her finger is never on the trigger? I really feel like it should be on the trigger rather than on the outside, almost like she is uncomfortable with it. Unless that is the intent.

PS- I pretty much only shoot landscapes, but always check out your stuff b/c your use of the natural environment and tonal balance is near perfect.

One of the very common firearms safety rules is that your finger doesn't touch the trigger until you're pointing the firearm at it's intended target and are ready to shoot. Just another layer of safety as accidents do happen, and as long as one of the safety rules is being followed, you're usually ok. But there are a lot and they all overlap, so even if her finger did press the trigger, the gun is unloaded. And even if the gun was loaded it would still be pointed in a safe direction.

Speaking only for myself, these photographs do not elicit a positive emotional response. My eyes, and my heart, don't want to linger in them. I'm sure you will get many different reactions to them, but that's mine.

Sorry for ignoring your admonition. but, I hate the guns. You don't hunt with handguns. Why pose with something whose only purpose is to kill another person. Pictures like this make weapons seem cool - just like photos of the Marlboro man encouraged smoking. This puts your daughter and society as a whole in danger. Otherwise nice.

Perhaps where you live you don't hunt with hand guns..here in the West we do. We also maintain our skills by target shooting.

Hi,

Faves:
2 - gets the tough-girl idea across to me best of all. I think it's the angle - she's dominating the scene and it all focuses on her.

3,7 - 'cause they're just gorgeous.

Thanks for posting these.

It's just a title - relax. I see all sorts of silly titles on threads here from 'hot and sexy' to 'gorgeous', etc etc. It's no more or less corny than any of those. And my daughter IS quite stunning. So there.

You have a very valid point.....NSFW photos, I don't see anyone talking about the sex offenders and how these photos might fuel those problems.

Me, I see your daughter as a flower that is just starting to blossom. She is beautiful and I can see only improvement coming for her beauty. Keep the photos coming Lisa, I for one enjoy your work and when you add your children in, it is even much better. How about a photo session on eyes. The eyes are the pathway to the soul......your daughter has great eyes......how about a series?

As always your photos are consistent with your process, incredible light, nice processing etc. I appreciate your experimentation and allowing us to provide feedback. I assume you are looking for feedback and if not, please ignore my comments.

My initial impressions here are the opposite of what you intended. I see cliche. A beautiful women holding firearms in a posed photograph in a beautiful location.....the only thing missing here is a holster around her upper thigh. We have seen this sort of thing countless times in movies and advertisement. Just think Angelina Jolie.

I think your on to something but If you are truly looking for contrast and juxtaposition within your well executed style, your going to have to do more than hand a beautiful women a gun of any kind. FWIW.

Thanks for sharing and keep at it.

Any time guns, religion, politics, or gender preference comes up, activist just can't seem to help themselves. They have to have their say. In this case the artist accomplished exactly what she wanted to. She said it was an experiment. -----------------It was a great experiment!

I have really enjoyed viewing your work and rarely comment, but appreciate that you take the time to share your work with others. Your images are always technically near perfect and what I like most about your work is you have a real knack for knowing what colors are complimentary.

This particular set I don't don't care for because of the intended contrast with your beautiful daughter and the guns. I'm not anti-gun in the least, but I find them, especially those kind of guns, really "ugly". Yeah it is provocative contrast indeed, but for me they ruin what would be otherwise beautiful images. If the images were of your daughter holding a severed pigs head with dripping blood, I would have the same reaction. That's just how I feel when I see them.

Well, Lisa, as if I didn't already love your work enough, now I love you too, with apologies to your husband. It takes guts to put up with people like Elliotkramer (he's obviously never been caught in a situation where a handgun was the only thing that could save his life or those of his loved ones). I'm glad to know that you value your family and are teaching them to value themselves enough to be prepared. And nothing equals the playing field like a firearm against the felons who are always present in our lives (whether we can see them or not).

About the photography. I found myself wishing the gun was in the same plane of focus as her face in 7b, but it's not a big deal. I do hope she grips the gun with her weak hand thumb lying alongside and parallel to the thumb of her strong hand, unlike it's being held in the photo.

A closer crop on #6 would be interesting, too.

Thank you for sharing these photos of another member of your lovely family.
