This was my first visit to the Valley of Fire State Park. Incredible location!
I was in Vegas with the family and the sky was mostly clear. In the afternoon, clouds started forming, motivating me to drive to this location and take my changes for some dusk colors.

Taken with Sony A7R, Samyang 14mm, f/8, 1/3s.

Hey Fred,

Yeah, VoF is one super cool place. It's pretty amazing just how magenta those rocks turn in low light. I like your capture with just enough clouds with color to balance with the ground.

Great shot, Fred. Coincidentally, I was just there early in the month after a week in Death Valley. It is a special location, for sure.

Thanks Jim,
I got lucky my first and only day there turned out a nice sky. The colors of dusk are indeed unique when it hits the unusual rock formations.

That foreground is really something! It looks like a topo map, and the peaks lead you right for the main cloud color

We were in Zion, Bryce, Valley of Fire (for only that sunset), Death Valley and then back to San Clemente beach. Wonderful 9-day trip.
