Particularly like the rendition above Ratty. Great exposure , deep rich colours, good tone and hue values in the greens and Red. Excellent.

Did Sigma end up repairing your DP2m under warranty ?
No, it's out of warranty and still broken. However, if I keep it set to single shot, the problem never appears. It's only when I set it to multi shot that the camera locks up and won't work. A real shame as it is my only digital camera now.
I'd love to take some HDR type images here but the camera won't work in multi shot.

Well given how small/slow the buffer is on the thing your not missing too much. Pretty quick/easy just to toggle the EC comp as well.
I tried to do HDR pano's before and you get basically 2 bracketed positions done and then you sit and wait for a while

I only need 3 shots for an HDR, which the DP2M can handle easily. Toggling the EC comp button takes too long and causes movement in the camera if handheld. A fully functioning DP2M would be nice to have but that's not in the cards for me. The dynamic range on this camera almost requires HDR in bright contrasty light.

Ratty Ive never attempted HDR so what I am about to say may not apply here. But I do sometimes bracket shots to get one good exposure in difficult situations.
You talk abot not being able to do multi shots. You know if you set the bracket to yes in menu and give it a value, you can if you have it on single shot on the 2 second timer, it will automatically take three consecutive multi shots . No need to have it on multi. You may know this , if not maybe your camera if working in single shot mode only, this is one way to achieve multishot.
Brilliant Juju, just Brilliant! Yes that works on my camera. A damn, damn shame this information didn't come earlier in my trip! I am blowing highlights like crazy here in Kyoto. I never knew you could get multi shots that way. My DP2M is defective and can't fire off more than 1 shoot, EXCEPT the way you just told me.

THANK YOU!
you are welcome Ratty. Only came across it myself a few days ago by accident.
Here is a re edit of an image I took during the try before you buy. I did end up buying one. Just trying out a slightly different processing on this image
DP2 Quattro
Edit: I removed the image because of some issues with my monitor and how it looked from Flickr. My apologies I will repost it when I have fixed the issue I am seeing.
Did you try reloading the firmware on your camera Ratty ?
Seems that if the camera works in single shot mode, and can bracket when using the timer, that there isn't something mechanically wrong with the camera. Maybe something in the software won't let it fire a burst?
If it can fire 3 bracketed frames in timer mode, which is triggered by the shutter, but can't shot multiple frames otherwise just doesn't make much sense

Alan what are thoughts on this image and the different rendition? I've not seen the first not to my knowledge .
