I put some clouds and such in there. Also did other things I forget. Pretty happy with it, except the creative commons license, so I'll just have to wait for a rain storm and take a picture of my own clouds.
Actually there was a giant hole in the ceiling of the abandoned building we snuck into. The sky was overcast and rainy, but I imagine enough light still got through, although for some of the shots the shutter speed was 1 second sometimes to get good exposure. A few shots before this one had the umbrella closer to her, but they ended up very dark. I had her hold the umbrella up high and that provided enough light on her face. It was also translucent enough to let some light through and highlight the umbrella. I brightened her up slightly in post, but I think this is more because I darkened the rest of the scene and wanted her to stand out a bit more. Definitely brightened her face a smidgen though. But really it's all basically straight out of the camera with natural light, except the clouds were photoshopped in.
In other parts of the building there were skylights that had a very similar effect. It was harsh until she looked up, and then it was fantastic. Also she's standing right on the edge of where the hole in the roof is, and you can see where the light falloff is on the umbrella.
