I had entered the yearly Audubon Magazine wildlife photo contest in 2012 and 2013. Both years I thought I had a photo or two that was worthy of something.
2012 passed without a word. Oh well.
The 2013 contest rolled around and I entered again. I submitted some of my best ruby throats, bald eagles and puffins. Again, no email, no letter, nada.
The official winners were acknowledged in the January 2014 issue. No Ted.
About a month ago or so ago, I received an email from a female representative of Audubon magazine who wanted some information about a puffin picture I had taken. At the time I replied and said I was interested. I didn't think much about it. I did not put two and two together.
Today I received another email from the same Audubon Mag (web) representative asking me for a phone interview. Hmmm?, I was...I don't know what I was feeling. I replied saying, I could be reached on my cell phone today at 5:00PM. I still had not put two and two together
At 4:56 pm, she called, of course I was away from my phone. My father in-law says "Ted, your phone was ringing".
I called the missed call and...low and behold it was the Audubon mag rep.
To make a long story even longer she had informed me I had a picture that had been selected as one of 100 of the best of 2013??
I told her no one from Audubon had contacted me with the glorious news back in January.
Ted
Your photo is "World Class". It definitely deserves to be in that group. ( I checked them out). This is what we all strive for every time we venture out.
