Nextelbuddy - I ALWAYS expose for skin. ALWAYS. Sometimes I will stack multiple (virtual) exposures but I purposefully choose locations where I'm not going to end up with a blown out background just because I exposed my skin properly. The exception would be skies - sometimes I will take a photo with the full intention of dropping in a sunset (I have a pretty good collection going that I took myself).

The beauty of natural light! Wow!
All the flashes and strobes in the world can't produce that.
Well done!

Hello! I use both LR4 and Photoshop CS6 in my editing. I always start in LR and do my raw edits there - exposure, white balance, noise removal, fixing up color casts, etc. The real magic happens in Photoshop though as this is where I really play up my colors, add contrast and contouring, etc.

Here's a before and after from one of the images in this set. The sky is an overlay (obviously) but one of my own - I save them in a specifically designated LR catalog. I do not purchase overlays from other photographers. We get amazing

your skies and background may sometimes look over-saturated but the skin tones always look good

Saturation and color treatment is always a matter of personal preference. Thanks everyone for the comments. Surprised to see this old thread revived again.

I can never get bored of your work. In fact, I would be upset if you changed anything about your style. You absolutly inspire me more than any other artist.
