I really like how the FD 85mm f/1.2L performs on the A7R.
The EF 85mm f/1.2L is a tad sharper in the center but imo the FD renders beautifully wide open. The bokeh is smoother and contrast areas have much less fringing.
Here is a picture of the FDn 85mm f/1.2L on the A7R via Novoflex adapter.

The A7(R) series has really brought the FD(n) series back into "focus".
Not just the A7 series, but all mirrorless cameras. While obviously a full frame sensor brings them back to what they were originally designed for, I use a bunch of FD glass on my Fujis as well, to great effect. Now that FD speed boosters are out as well, I can use my FD glass close to original AOV as well on APS-C. It's really great glass, and very small for the speed.
Amazing levels of detail for 30 year old glass at f/1.2 on a 36 MP sensor, though, in that shot above. I've been similarly impressed with how well my FL 55mm f/1.2 holds up on the higher density smaller sensor, even with the speed booster inbetween as well. It's not quite as well corrected as a modern lens at f/1.2 (My Fuji 56/1.2 is sharper and higher contrast wide open), but it's still rather impressive for a lens that's nearly 50 years old.
Hey Fred, love how the 85 looks on the A7r. I have the EF version and I was pleasantly surprised on how well I could manually focus it with the Sony. How smooth is the focus action on the FD version is it comparable to the feel of the Zeiss manual lenses?
