so that is that, no editing or correction other than resizing was done on any of them, you can see that vignetting is still fairly severe even at 35, so I don't know that I'd say that it's "just like" an FX lens at any focal length, however much of that vignetting could be helped in post processing.

I still have my Nikon 12-24 f4 DX going great on the D600 from 18 onwards. Really use it when I need the extra wideness. Most of my shots on that lens is for landscape and hence., I would typically stop down anyway. Sunsets at the Everglades by ramkumar999, on Flickr

Great landscape shot Ram. How is corner sharpness on FX with that lens?
The Sigma 18-35 does indeed seem to be a DX only lens, but that's what they advertise. Still a bit of a shame because it is such an interesting idea to have this fast a zoom lens

Its not sharp wide open., possibly like f8 or something, it cleans up pretty nice. I will try it out and let you know.

Sigma 11-35mm-big, heavy and approx $800-all for F1.8. If you stop it down then it defeates the purpose of the lens
For a dual purpose DX lens try the Tokina 11-20mm F2.8. For $570 you get a DX lens that works well on FX from approx 17-20 mm. Not small though it uses 82 mm filters. Probably why can have such a large image circle.
Also realize that there's no free DX lunch. The DX sensor only has 40% of the area FF and, typically lags by approx 1.5 stops of Hi Iso performance. So a used Nikon 17-35 F2.8 on FF would be a rival.

Have been tried using this for some time. At 1.2x crop, it essentially becomes a 21.6-42mm lens @f2.1. However useful range starts from 20mm which translaes to 24mm.
It looks that there is indeed a need for 24-35f2 for FF
