Three shots with the lens shifted horizontally (-10mm, 0, + 10mm). I usually don't go all the way to 12mm to keep high border resolution.
The Effective focal length after the stitch is around 12mm.
I hope you like it,
Fred
Wow! Really nice! Great combination of rock, water and some really dramatic sky. With the A7R were you able to pull the whole dynamic range from the 3 stitched shots without filters or blending?

I like that you have pulled a lot of drama into this image with the clouds and tufa here. Not so sure about the red/violet cast on the foreground tufa though.
As I shot at this exact spot couple months ago, you definitely pulled out all you possibly can from whats there....very well done and congrats
It does seem to be overly magenta, which looks a little odd, even for a twilight shot. Nice composition though! Apparently the 17TS-E and the A7r CAN play nicely together.
Wow! I have to say that I'm just not usually a big fan of photos of Mono Lake but this one is so different. Most of them (not all) tend to look similar for me and as an icon can be overdone.
I've never been there so I know that colors my opinion. After seeing this photo I'm ready to make the trip. Great image. Simply a fine realization of well-defined mood and atmosphere with great processing.
Beautiful photo Fred! One of the best I have seen of Mono Lake. The color and the movement in the clouds make for a Great Photo. Most importantly, this is probably one of the best comps I have seen at Mono Lake. Great Work!

Thanks!
I didn't use filters or blending for this one. Only 3 shifted captures (-10, 0 and +10mm) stitched in PS and edited in LR.
One of the reasons I am shooting with a A7R with for the dynamic range at base ISO. The extra resolution is noticeable but it's really not that much comparing to my 5D III (about 20% linear resolution increase)

One question : how does the a7r play with EF lenses? The aperture is electronic so does the adapter couple the body to the lens to allow aperture control?

Thanks for the feedback docsmiles17. Luckily the color cast can be tweaked. I don't see it that strong on my monitor but will play with it before printing it.
Take care,
Fred
