These are all fantastic Klaus, with the first being my favorite.
I was surprised to see your zf 21mm for sale a few months back. Thought it would've been a good choice for compositions such as these.
Great work, thanks for sharing these.

These are very nice. I loved looking at them. I would be interested in hearing about everything from capture to processing. If you can share any particulars that would be fantastic.

Klaus,
Beautiful work as always, #1 would be my favorite I like your composition on that the best, I also really like the toning I think it looks better when you go to the black background I would mat these with off white or black if printed , the grey default background dose not work great with this tone. Regards,
Dean

Klaus,
Very enjoyable to look at. These would make great platinum prints.

Thanks everyone for your comments. They are all much appreciated. I realize that brown isn't associated with "warmth", but for me it brings out the warmth in the landscape. I guess I may be a little nuts here.

Another great series Klaus. I too share the same thoughts about the composition in the last.

Man, you always seem to have amazing skies to work with.

I see what you mean about "Earth" tones. Personally I like your BW work more but these work. I might tone down the saturation just a touch but that is just personal taste. This is your art!

In #2 there seem to be a bit of a mid-tone halo at the edge of the arch. It is not prominent but noticeable.

That is really all I can offer for CC. I love the images

Scott, Thanks and much appreciated. Not sure whats up with the second image and the halo. Didn't see it in the large file. Going to work on it a bit more and get it ironed out. I added the fifth file with reduced saturation for comparison. I guess the brown on a gray BG look to be VERY brown. When these are matted on a brown rag mat board they really shine.

I love toned B&W images, but these I feel have a too heavy hand on the tone. My preference would be to back off the intensity of the tone somewhat to give it a more subtle feel.

I also agree with Camperjim that these do not portray a warmth, maybe to do with the intensity of the tone.

Just my opinion on these.

Harry,
Thanks and I added the fifth image to compare a little less saturated version. These would have looked so much better on a brown mat. Your thoughts are very much appreciated.

just read everyones comments and while I agree with Jim that Brown is generally a warm color and blue is generally a cool color, these images do not convey warmth to me, despite the brown tone.

Not exactly sure why but maybe its the contrast or shadows, not sure. #3 is very cold feeling. Interestingly, #2 feels the most warm of the set.

This still does not take away from the fact that these are great images, I just don't feel the warmth you intended to convey.

Thanks and I guess you really need to see these images matted and framed in a warm tan and brown rag board for it to really hit you as being warm.

Dean, Thanks and the BG does make a huge difference when you are viewing these toned images. Gray is so neutral that it kind of hinders the toning on these.

Klaus,

Strong series as always. This is something new from, albeit I am left wishing these photos would be graced with your stunning BW conversions. None the less, these photos are great in it's own way. I don't know much about what might constitute "earth toned", but when I see these photos I get that feel of "mud on your boot" after a long day hiking in those areas - I felt like I was hiking to those scenes. When I see these photos, I get the sense that I could feel dirt in the areas, especially in #1 and #3 where it is very striking. I don't know if that feeling was what you envisioned for earth toning.

Very nice Klaus. May not be everyone's "thing", but that is why art is subjective. Very well done on the capture and toning!

Maybe a touch too far for my taste, but just a touch. I think the toning works for the first one, but I think you might be running into some association issues, with some of the others. The slot canyons are automatically going to have a warm association already due to the reds and orange in the stone. In a straight BW conversion it becomes all about texture and line, by introducing some color there you bring it about halfway back into tinting.
