Every time I buy a new Fuji lens, a week or so later some super deal comes out Oh well, I think these lenses are so good I'm okay paying the full price, just once I want to catch one of these deals.
What are people's opinions on the 55-200 R lens? I'm interested in this as a walk around/hiking for birds when I can't lug my Canon super telephotos along.
I am going to eventually buy into the X camera system, but not at Fujfilm's ridiculous prices. No camera system is more transparently overpriced than Fujifilm's. The X-E1, just 2 years old can now be bought for $400. That is an amazing discount. I can find all of Fujifilm's lenses, or at least the ones I want, used for over 60% off in Shanghai China's used stores. All you have to do is wait for the value of this gear to plummet, as it certainly will. Then it becomes much more affordable.
Luckily for me, while I wait I have very decent gear to use in the mean time.

A nice little package awaited me yesterday! Cant wait to play this weekend!
My package came a day early, so I got mine yesterday too. I wasnt expecting it until today. I got all 3 of those lenses as well. I just wish the 27 came with a hood. Has anyone found a decent hood for a decent price for the 27?

A hood sort of defeats the point of the 27, no? It becomes a lot less pocketable once you double the width with a hood. If you must have one, a screw in 39mm vented hood would probably look nice. not sure how the weight would affect the focus motor over time, though, since that barrel moves with focusing.

jman13 i did not get this lens for the size. I got this lens to cover a focal length I use often and for the price. I am a wedding photographer and dont use my Fuji gear for personal use. My personal use camera is a P&S little guy I can put in my pocket and my iPhone

The 23 is a little big on the M1. The lens isn't all that heavy, but it is chunky. It won't be unusable, certainly, but it feels better on the larger bodies.

FlyPenFly, The 23 is big, even on the XE1... Not too big by any means, but the diameter is quite large enough that your camera won't sit flat on it's base (much like FX fast glass is on FX bodies.) Quite justifiable considering how great the optics are (and it has beautiful rendering!)
Regarding the 27mm, I would have been thrilled to find a bayonet mount lens hood incorporated to the body of the lens, even if it wasn't 100% efficient given the lack of IF. As Jman suggested, I'd be concerned about the torsion associated with a screw-in lens hood (especially considering the added leverage from the hood bumping around, etc.)

I'm waiting for that PL15 as well... The XF 23 is a great lens, but it is quite large for an X-M1 IMO. I think the XF 35 is about as big of a lens as I'd personally want to mount on that camera.
The X-M1 really sings with the 27mm pancake. Is that too long of a focal length for you?

And not enough aperture.
I think I might wait for the pl15 or just rebuy the eosm with the 22mm f2 pancake. Incredibly compact with great sharpness. Too bad the sensor is soso.

RX1? Probably the best IQ out of a 35mm lens in a small package. I would love to see a photo of the Fuji 23mm 1.4 mounted on a body beside an RX1. Anyone have that shot?
Size comparison between the RX1 and the X-A1 just for reference.

Every wide open image I've seen from the RX-1 is sharp but has the look of an F/2.8 lens. Love to see a comparison of the Fuji 23mm wide open vs the Sony.

The look of an F2.8 lens on FF wide open? Never seen that myself. In fact, everything to me often takes on the rendering of even faster and longer lenses with regard to bokeh and smoothness. The only thing that looks like it's from a 2.8 lens is the amazing sharpness wide open. Anyway, the rendering from the Fuji 23/1.4 looks really nice and is probably a lens some might even buy into the system in order to use. A comparison of rendering would be interesting given the similar dof between the Fuji 23/1.4 and the Zeiss 35/2 on the FF RX1 (tossing out the resolution advantage of the RX1).

While I would love an RX1, it would be unfortunately twice the cost for a used one than a new A1+Fuji 23mm F1.4 or a Voigtlander 17.5mm F0.95. It would also be 600% more than a EOSM with 22mm F2.
Right now, the plan is to rent a Voigtlander from my local shop for a weekend and see if I can hit focus frequently enough without it being annoying on my OM-D.
If I find I really need AF, I'll probably end up again with the EOS-M or the PL15. I wish the PL15 were a bit faster, I think DoF will be not great compared to the other APS-C options. Disappointing to hear the Fuji 23mm won't be a great experience on the A1/M1 body.

The X-A1 + the Fuji 23/1.4 was something I had considered myself (not that I really need it though). I would think if it were cradled with the left hand at chest or waist level (taking advantage of the articulating LCD), It might not be so awkward in use?

Its called opportunity cost and some people are wiling to pay it, because they want the nice new gear TODAY, not in 18 months from now.
Nothing wrong with waiting, but nothing wrong with buying at a premium price today, provided one can afford it.
Thing pictures one can take today, or next week, or next month may be worth more than the cash they can save waiting til next year to buy it at a huge discount
