This is an image I made in Canadian Rockies. I was camping at the lake for 3 days and enjoying the weather. I found these ice formations in the middle of the lake. Water that spilled through the crack in the ice froze instantly creating wave like shapes. Smooth, polished by high winds and blowing snow ice, reflects the light. I wanted this image to give the feeling of cold, just the way I experienced it that afternoon. Enjoy.
Artur,
You got a very creative composition and I really like the cool mood you captured.
The foreground ripples and the line leading to the background works very well.
Congratulations!
Fred
It's gorgeous! The colors in the ice are amazing and the crack leads you right to the mountain.
To be honest though, it's the ice that grabs my attention - my eyes keep wandering back to the bottom right. I know this isn't the abstract forum, but I'd like to see a tight shot of the ice alone with such interesting color and textures.
Beautiful image of a unique landscape. The composition works well with the diagonal line from the bottom left leading the viewer into the image. The foreground ice is very interesting. Did you by chance do any landscape orientation photos of the ice forms?
Thanks everyone. I didn't expect such a great respond.
Thank you azngigolo64 and yes this is a focus blend of 3 images for depth of field.
Thanks ponz924 no heated cabin, just sleeping bag heated by my body. It is the proper gear that makes the difference between survival and comfort.
What a nice shot Artur - well done! Not sure if I like the crack leading exactly into the corner of the frame or if it could look better slightly to the right? Could also be my untrained eye! I will have to make the drive up there in a month or so. Do you know the best time to visit? Not sure if there is a lot of clear ice there thoughout the winter or if you need to time it right...
