I echo everything said about this wonderful image. This composition is outstanding, as is the execution. One thing seems a bit off though? Is that haloing I am seeing at the intersection of the mountains and sky (left of middle)? If so what is causing it?
I like the contrast of the highlights and shadows and how they balance so well in this image. The textures and color balance in the sand and sky likewise! Superb!

Mesquite Dunes was very stamped with footsteps. During this visit, I hiked towards the very back in an effort to find "virgin" dunes.
Fred
When we visited Mesquite Dunes last month I found if I parked half a mile down the road (west) I could walk to virgin dunes directly. It seems most people congregate at the one spot on 190. Our other visit, we access the dunes from DV road, via a spur that goes to the actual stovepipe well, and again had clean dunes to photograph.
Glad you found your shot and some solitude
Great shot with lovely FG detail. You are generating some interest in the new camera.
A terrific image, Fred.
About footprints on the dunes- I stopped entering the dunes from the place where everyone parks.
Instead, I stop at the western edge, circle clockwise on the hard pan, and enter from the north.
I've hardly seen any footprints since I began doing it that way.
