Happy Friday FM'ers.
The following shots were taken at Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge (SNWR) on the last day of 2013. They were shot from inside of my car since you're not allowed to get out of your car at SNWR. I was lucky to run into this but the fact that I switched from 1.4X to 2.0X TC in the midst of it making it too much of a lens resulting in less keepers but nonetheless, I'm still happy with what I got. Thought of sharing with everyone here.
1. When I got to the scene, the hawk was already enjoying its fresh kill.
Another hawk was in the back but keeps its distance - most likely only dare enough to wait for leftover.

2. This was when I switched from 1.4X to 2.0X TC to get closer shots of the hawk enjoying its meal.

3. It's always on a constant lookout for any threats.

5. A Dark Morph (do correct me if I'm wrong) appeared from nowhere creating a chaos kicking the eating hawk into the water.

6. The battle began to get more intense.

7. It didn't take long for them to get into a real battle. Unfortunately, I lost a lot of shots here with the 2.0X TC on and being confined inside the car..

8. The dark morph won and happily claimed the prize as the other hawk backed off and kept its distance.

9. It dragged the prey further away from the bank.

10. Just to eliminate any further threats from the loser altogether, the dark morph hawk gave another chase..

What an amazing series of images Phoo. This is not only a great documentary set but excellent photography as well. I wouldn't beat yourself up too much regarding the 2x tc.
