I've been struggling with this series of shots I took of GC. On the one hand it had an amazing sunset (it kept changing from yellow to orange to magenta), but on the other, it was kind of misty in the canyon so it wasn't super sharp, and the canyon went very blueish.
So I'm hoping this one got the balance between sky and canyon better. It was a three shot manual blend. Please let me know what you think. All comments and advice is always appreciated.
Thanks,
Kelly
EDIT: I added an edited version of the photo, with the rock at the bottom cloned out. I hoped this helped. Let me know.
Looks like a difficult place to process during the nice dynamic light. I've never shot the GC but many of our members here regularly shoot there and can help. From the thousands of photos I've seen of the GC, it's not uncommon to have the misty atmosphere in the canyon, so I don't think you need to worry about as much and try to go too strong with clarity. Just process as how you saw it with your eyes. If it's blue then it's blue, adjust to taste.
I like the shot above. I think the colors of the sunset is beautiful and the canyon details are great. My only nit pick is that little rock ledge poking out of the bottom middle there. If you can't crop it out I would clone it out.

Thanks Jason.
I knew that little rock at the bottom wouldn't work. I was just too lazy to do the cloning work, but I know I have to

Lazy.... None of that lazy stuff around here...
Hey Kelly,
Overall a very nice work here, love the clouds in this. And I will echo what Jason said, lose that rock at the bottom.
The rock will go
I think I did a better job of just bringing out the right amount of detail in the canyon, without making it go too crispy.

Hey Kelly,
Your processing in the shot is really well done! You should do the edit of that rock and then add your edit to your original photo so others can see the difference.
This is where Jim shamed me into doing what I should have done in the first place, and cloned out the rock at the bottom
I added the second version above.
Ha ha... See, the edited version makes such a difference. It's amazing how just removing one element allows the whole composition to flow now. This is truly one sweet shot now!
Absolutely great capture. Love the light and colors. Your composition is perfect to my eyes.
The edit was successful but the rock in the bottom didn't bother me at all.
All the best,
Fred
