I started going through the albums of the pictures I have of my beautiful baby girl and realised that the casual snapshots are indeed the best pictures I have as they provide the best and most natural memories of her. So I thought I'd put together a quick blogstomp of some them and share with you all.
Most of these are literally snapshots and not planned or staged images (some are though) so I'm not trying to showcase any particular photographic ability. Rather, I just wanted to share my little girls journey from her short 16 months of life. The last pictures were taken yesterday in our local park. She looks like a proper little girl now!!
Anyway, sorry for the long post. I hope you enjoy.....
Thank you all. I had loads of fun looking through all the pics and putting these together.
Herb, I'm pleased they made you smile. That was certainly my intention. It's funny that as I looked through all the pics this morning I realised that the un-staged unposed shots were the ones I enjoyed looking at the most.
Ron/Lisa, I think I'll do just that, and each year add the next years worth of blog shots to the album. Will end up enormous but what an amazing timeline to look back on over the years.

These are great! We're expecting our first (also a little girl) in just a few months... it's a reminder to keep on shooting.
Thank you, and yes, keep shooting. Even if you find yourself bagging hundreds of so so shots. Keep them. You'll look back like I did today and realise the every day shots become your favourites as they tell the story and bring back wonderful memories.
I often put a lot of pressure on myself to take great photos that conform to the rules and what others would consider a good picture, and I get annoyed when I don't produce the goods. But going through the pictures this morning made me realise that a camera is simply a tool to capture a snapshot of life, and it's the memories that the pictures drag up that are worth more than capturing an award winning, perfectly composed, perfectly lit image.

As each year passes, 20, 30, 40 years from now, you'll appreciate it so much more than a blog.
And yeah, Lisa, you need to get to work on that, too. With 10 kids and your photography, your annual albums are going to be pretty thick.

Just beautiful. I love Ron's suggestion - make an album! I'm going to do that with my photos of my youngest also one of these days.
On my iPad I put AlbumPro, it is an easy to make an album. Since my grandson lives 400 miles away, I take the photos my daughter puts on Facebook of him into this album. He just turned 3 last October and I am on page 519. Sone pages with one (most) photo and some with 2 or 3. I get a variety of shots and while I can't be there, this does give me the ability to savor the moments. An album is a must!
These are great. I have a daughter due in 5 weeks. I wasn't planning on taking my camera in the delivery room but this changed my mind. My wife will probably hate it at the time but I'm sure she'll appreciate the pictures with time.
