It's de-centered, for sure!
(off-topic: I'm trying to come to an understanding with the A7R, but it is the one digital camera I've used in the past 10 years which leaves me very cold...and I'm not sure why, yet. Full-disclosure: I've only used Leica M or adapted LTM lenses on it so far)

Why would those lenses scratch the sensor? It's not like they touch film on their original bodies.
I would expect shutter damage first.

I've been using all kinds of adapted lenses on my A7r and other than my errors haven't had any major issues, what leaves you cold?

Probably the smearing/corner performance with so many wide RF lenses....

NEX adapters for Contax G allows focusing beyond infinity, so the rear portion of the lens portrudes much further back then on the G1/G2. On the APS-C cameras, it was the baffle around the sensor that took all the damage. Guess what happens with a FF sensor...

The shutter is normally open with mirrorless cameras, so you'd damage the shutter only when releasing the shutter while the lens is in the way.

Siri, let the FE 55 make your day...almost too hot to handle.
Yeah, that's what I'm reading and "seeing" at web size. I've only been using manual focus lenses for street shots with the A7R and it's getting tiresome.
That camera dented my wallet pretty badly and I am exercising restraint. The FE 55 is one *very* expensive standard prime.

That first bit was a joke.

I mentioned the bit about adapted lenses, to illustrate that irrespective of the lenses I'm using, the body is what's bugging me.
I'll try to be brief and pardon me for those that know well or have read about these things from before. People conclude at different rates
1. The menu system is really clunky
2. The ergonomics and button placement don't seem optimal, even considering the small body size.
3. The EVF is "nice" but is too small for my taste. My vision is changing, I'm getting a little older.
4. Niggling hardware or firmware issues, for instance the proximity sensor below the EVF, when you want to shoot from the waist with using the rear display. Or the screen which really never turns off. Or full-stop ISO increments...
5. The shutter that sounds/feels like a nano-pile of Jenga sticks collapsing in a quarter of a second. I don't understand how they could get to market without somebody saying "listen, we are producing a camera which is going to be coveted by enthusiasts, we really need to address features that such a user group will certainly want."
6. No external charger? It's a bit perplexing (and vexing!) for a $2,300 piece of equipment.
But, I won't give up on it, the camera does have a great sensor and lots of potential. I simply feel like I'm photographing with a camera system designed by systems/assembly engineers who never had a beer with anybody but their kin in the same department.
I like the Leica M9 variants in spite of their glaring faults. The EOS-M is a plucky little camera that can be a joy to use (certainly to carry) in the right situations. The A7R, it's in my bag as I go most everywhere, but mentally it's like I'm carrying around a camera which makes shooting feel a bit like a chore.
Seriously it is widely regarded as cheap for what you get, a real bargain. So far in front of the eq. ZEFs it is not in the same ballpark. I can't think of it as a standard prime lens, any more than a 21mm Distagon is a regular wide angle lens.
My wife is starting to recognize that not all cameras are black, nor a can be expected to have a reasonably similar profile, nor have an identical finish.
