So far I guess I can only assume its people here, but then again who knows. I don't like to assume anything. Especially when I see what people do in the field just to get images of a subject.
So I'm not sure what everyone knows, that would be assuming again.
Yes I'm shouting and I'm not even ordering this lens. I'm just really intrigued by what the final verdict will be when it gets into the hands of trusted FM members. Then I may order it if it can fill a need for me.
Who on here is getting this from day one? I know Karl is and Kathy.
Can't wait to see if this thing is the real deal.....
I'm #2 on the list at my local Samy's Camera store Geoff. So I'm hoping to pick it up on Friday and shoot with it on the weekend, and post some images no later than Monday evening.
Keeping my expectations realistic, but still pretty excited about this lens. Understanding and shooting within whatever limitations it will have will be critical to producing acceptable IQ. I look forward to maximizing the capabilities of this new lens.

Having seen a bit of your work in the N&W forum, Kirk, I'm pretty confident that you could produce amazing results shooting through a coke bottle . So, I'll bet your images will make the lens look like a winner!
The above ^^^ is an interesting point. The results a newbie gets with a high dollar 'L' lens can be disappointing. The point being made as we become more adapt at understanding proper exposure and technique as well as processing it seems are results from about any lens can be darn good if not great!
For the longest time the Canon 400 DO kept taking hits because it didn't seem to carry the contrast ................that often can be a good thing to control in PP.
As long as the Tamron is sharp and has predictable relatively fast focus the experienced users will extract amazing images from it............Kirk being one them This lens should be exciting on the Nikon 800D!
Finally some sensibility instead of bashing a lens that nobody has used yet. I owned the Tamron 200-500 for many years and got some amazing photos from it. Was it an excellent BIF lens. Hardly. Did I get some good BIF shots? I sure did! Was it perfect at every focal length and aperture? No, but I didn't expect it to be. Did I get good, sharp wildlife and bird shots with it? Yes I did! Everything and everyone has limitations. Some of my best wildlife photos were taken with that lens, but I knew its limitations. I always said " if only it had VC". Well I got my wish. I am first on the list at my local camera shop, and I will work within the limitations of the lens and thoroughly enjoy it. I really do not want to spend multiple thousands of dollars on a lens for occasional use. If I made my living with it that would be different.

I am glad it was bashed so. Maybe this is why I was able to snag a used one for much less than new.
We already knew that because we had your phone tapped. Don't feel bad though, that's nothing compared to what we know about Ms. Merkel.
Sincerely,
The NSA
If there is really something interesting to know about Ms. Merkel it passed away from me.
The only thing you could have got about her is her standard sentence: "We have to find a consence in this case" (with Merkelfolded hands) - she is just bought like most politicians worldwide. Else she would have blown an US presidents ass to the moon after NSA.
What I hate about us germans is that we still function like 65 years ago. No Asyl for Snowden?
What Nazi system we still live in?
But to come back to important things: My experience tells me it will need about 3/4ters of a year before Tamron germany will hit the actual US price - and sell this lense succesfull in germany, too. What I do not understand is that those sales and marketing guys who have to offer results are still as stupid as 8 year old schoolboys. Do they not have access to the internet?
I'm disabled and have to shoot from my pickup 90% of the time. This lens is what a lot of photographers like myself have been waiting for. Will it do everything we want it to, absolutely not but I'll be able to get shots I never would with it and if I learn the lens I'll get some good ones. Just try sneaking up on wild animals or birds in a pickup.
I ordered it and a bean bag 1/1/14 as soon as I saw the Trinity lumberton.org review posted here. It and others convinced me and I'll be a happy camper when I get the shipped notice in my e-mail.
There's been so much discussion on the web about this lens I thing every ones said all there is to msay one way or the other. Now we wait.
