Pretty much now IMO the value and IQ of this Tamron will be up to those that choose to buy and shoot it. As much as I liked all my 100-400's they never really took a TC very well so to get to 500-600 at f/6.3 will be fine with me, it is 1/3 of a stop..........no big deal.
More than likely the next version of the 100-400 is on the horizon, unfortunately if it follows path of the newer Canon long L glass the price will triple. If money were no object the IQ no doubt will be excellent but if you can't justify or you are not 'willing' to afford one then you go to the next best thing
So basically the new Tamron is almost exactly 2 pounds lighter than the 300 2.8 (V1) with the 2XIII.
That is a substantial difference and just a little less difference for the 300 2.8 II with 2XIII.

Yes. I have no problem handling the 400 DO, so the Tamron should be similar.

Looking very promising on IQ. Just need to see how it does with fast action work.
How do you think it's going to do on Fast Action Photography? (Duh)
Don't mean to be rude or anything but it's a $1069.00 5-6.3 lens for heaven sake. Maybe at ISO 3200 and a really fast shutter speed it can at least compete.
