p.1 #1 · Nikonos lenses - Useless or not?

I have a Nikonos-V with the 28mm f3.5, 35mm f2.5 and the rare-ish 15mm f2.8. Also some external viewfinders and other bits and pieces.

I don't really have much interest in underwater photography (or even film photography anymore for that matter - Quite happy with my D800e on dry land!), so I'm wondering if these lenses have any practical use today? Can they be adapted or converted to work with any of the current camera systems?

They are fine pieces of kit, especially the 15mm, so it seems a shame to have them just sitting on the shelf. Any suggestions or ideas? or should I just post on the B&S and pass the kit on to someone who may have interests more aligned with it's metier?

Comments appreciated.

Looks like this company was (is?) making an adapter for use on a Nex 5 with their UW case, so there may be some digital resale value in addition to people still using the Nikonos system.

Nikonos V Len Support
One of the unique advantages of a mirrorless system is that almost lens can be used via an adapter. One of the options this makes possible is a patent pending adapter for the heralded Nikonos U/W Nikkor water contact range finder lenses. While the Sony E- mount lenses offer excellent optics and autofocus performance, the Nikonos lenses yield incredibly sharp images. The unique adapter allows the Nikonos lenses to easily be removed and replaced with Sony E- Mount lenses and Nauticam ports.

You can use them on the a7r and other e-Mount cameras. Are they good out of the water unlike aquaman?

Apart from the 35 and 70 and the "jungle lens", Nikonos optics are designed to be used in direct contact with water, not in air. The different optical properties means that they will not perform as good as they were designed to do, unless the adapter allows for keeping the camera body dry and the lens wet.

The nikon aw1 can go to 49 ft deep, just need a waterproof adapter. You'll have a 2.7x crop factor though, 15 becomes 42mm fov.

Looks like I might be posting these for sale. Anyone know what a Nikonos kit is worth these days?
