I’d crawled up the small hill the snowy owl was on and stopped at 25 feet to take some portraits. I took this full body photo and was about to zoom in for a head shot when someone approached from my right sending the owl into flight. My first 2 frames cropped parts of the owl and then I caught the nice flight photo as it passed in front of me. I quickly climbed the hill witnessing and photographing the landing presented in this set. Conditions on the beach were nasty at 43f with 30 MPH winds with gusts to who knows what, cloudy and very high humidity as the fog had just burned off. I was occasionally bathed in ocean spray and I was glad I’d decided to ware my wind breaker with hood. After I came down from the hill, the person that had scared off the owl apologized to me and I said “That’s OK, you allowed me to get some nice flight photos.”
