Thanks Tim for getting this thread in motion...............should be pretty darn spectacular!
What an impressive thread that we have going here, I gotta think that there will be a handful of folks that stumble upon this thread that normally don't visit or get directed here for their first time that will be blown away
I did not shoot a lot this year but I plan to change that for next year
#1 Earlier in 2013 on a cold outing along the lakefront I was gifted this trio lifting off at a distance and racing by me........I don't have many in flight shots this year, this is my favorite!
#2 My local haunt Sandy Ridge Reservation has always been good to me, I really like the capture of light and pose on this one.......
#3 Yes I still dabble in florals.................after all those are my 'roots' of photography

Wow ! There are some incredible images posted so far. Thanks to Tim for starting the thread this year and posting the past year's Holiday threads. And also a big thanks to everyone who shares and critiques on my posts and helps keep the bar up high on this forum. This year was a great year for owls for me and it seems that there is to be another great owl season upcoming. As much fun and time I spend with the eagles, peregrines and skimmers, I have a very special place in my heart for the wintering owls. I had 17 short eared owls up at once a few nights ago before dusk, but they were all way too far away. I captured an 800mm landscape shot with 4 owls in it. : Anyways, here's 3 of my faves, all of them are owls as you may have guessed. Two of them are new, never posted before. The reasons are in my captions. Thanks again and Happy Holidays to everyone.

This is my contribution from my April 2013 trip to India. I do not pretend to think that my pictures are advanced as most of the posts are on this tread. The talent on this cite is mile high and I love seeing and learning from what you do. I hope that you enjoy my pictures.

All of these images are off the charts. The talent, vision and passion of photographers on this board is as good as it gets to you all… nothing but inspiration around here.
It's impossible to choose favorites, but these three shots suggest something about the direction my wildlife photography has shifted in the last 12-24 months. Tim, thanks for getting this thread started!
cheers

Great post Bruce, finally I do see the self portrait!

I've been away for some time lately due to different reasons. However, coming back and finding this thread right at first is just awesome! Thank you very much for keeping the tradition, Tim. Spectacular images, everybody! All a pleasure to see and see again and again and again and.......
It brings back some good memories, when "Lady Hawk" used to start this thread. I hope she is doing fine. She is missed.
Here is my contribution. The first one is a capture that took me a few tentative to catch. I saw this bird catching some food floating on the water on the wing and I tried to capture the right moment. Fortunately the bird kept doing that for a while until I finally caught the split second I was looking for.
The second one is a capture of a Caracara I tried to get for quite a few years. I believe this does it.
Finally a sunrise view of one of my favorite place to shoot. Viera Wetlands.
I'll try to catch up soon with the rest of the threads.

Three from me, all Barns Owls but some of my favourites.
These guys have been having a hard time of late in the UK, wet summers and winter diminishing the food supply, so even more precious that I was lucky enough to get to shoot this guy.
Spent a lot of time (as you all know) waiting for this guy to show and hunt, so cool to watch!
