I'm just in the beginning stages of strobe/portrait photography for purely hobby purposes and this is honestly my approach. I understand the basics, I'll learn the rest just by doing.
p.2 #2 · How do you know what power to set your strobe at?
I have 3 Einstein's from PCB. I also bought the Cyber commander. See the lights up with the power setting you think you need, take the CC and trigger the flashes with CC light meter facing the flashes. If you have previously set you ISO and shutter speed into the CC, it will indicate what you need for a setting in the camera.
I would always then check the highlights on the camera....
