I don't care for these at all. Parts of each picture is really well done, so congrats on that. The problem is all the OOF areas in each shot.
In #1, there are at least 4 times as much area devoted to OOF foliage that there is to your subject.
#2. The placement of the OOF foliage is particularly troublesome (IMO) in this one.
#3 Excessive sky in this one too.
Don't get me wrong - you are doing good things with the lighting and posing etc. It's just the OOF areas that are a problem. People want to see the model more than they do large areas of OOF or sky.
I have to agree with Jim. The Model is GORGEOUS and really like the lighting, but the OOF areas are a bit distracting.
1. I like the pose and lighting, but my eyes are really straining to see her.. she looks like she's not in focus, but maybe it's the OOF areas playing with my brain.
2. would be an amazing image, if not for the grass covering her chest. I find the crop with her legs very awkward as well.
3. tighter crop and I think this one is a winner.
4. too much foreground OOF.
I hope you have an opportunity to shoot her again.. you did a great job with lighting and she's beautiful.
I like 'em exactly how they are. For me, the additional OOF space gives the image room to breathe. It's always a challenge to shoot in direct sunlight but you did a pretty good job here. Way to go!
Very nice shots, and beautiful processing too. You handled the open sunlight very well.
I disagree with the comments about out of focus areas and letting the model get lost! I, too, am personally a stickler for getting right in there and making my model fill the frame, but at least for ME these shots really work. Nice environmental portraits.
