Picked up my A7 today, finally an "affordable" full frame camera that supports my old Canon 50mm f/0.95!
My findings so far:
Focusing is ok, can't trust focus peaking all the time.
Shutter sound is pretty quiet.
Speed and handling is ok, the strap lugs are a bit of a hassle.
Not comfortable with the colors yet, might be the lens, not sure.
Higher ISO seems ok.
EVF is the best I've ever tried.
Charging is slow.
Hmmmm, there is more but I'll take that after some more testing.
Here are a couple of the shots I took today, all have been through Photoshop CC.

I have done more tests with A7R and 'Lux 50. It is actually possible to get acceptable sharpness in the corners at infinity even fairly wide open, if I focus on the corner, which Andrew (snowboarder already showed). The problem rather seems to be that, if whatever is in the corner is not in the same plane of focus as whatever I focused on, then what is in the corner is reduced to an ugly smear instead of just OOF. I am not technically minded, but the fact that this does not happen on the A7 suggests that this could be a negative by-product of angled micro-lenses, giving a crazy result when the performance of the lens used differs from what Sony intended them to correct. What say you, o clever people?...Show more →
Yeh, At f2.8, f4, f5.6, the corner look rather ugly. (it is not soft, but make me dizzy) It is not the lens, or it is not only because of Lens, the sensor magnify the astigmatism and Field curvature of this lens, which is usually good enough after f2.8 for landscape use with M9.
I am going to give A7 a test today. But I have made up my mind with picking A7 over A7R, for different reason.
Some shots with my Elmarit M 28 v2 + A7r
These are from the jpg that's embedded in the raw and edited on my iPad.
I didn't see any smearing, just small color shift along the short sides, and some vignetting.(possibly worse after editing)
Thanks uhoh - yeah, I think I will use it a lot. I do wish the corners were better, but the color is so great. When I was loading the shots into LR and the thumbnails were filling in, I could spot these photos from a mile away because of the color.
The 28/2.8 ASPH also had really great color and rendering, I do wonder how that would have been on my A7. Though the Elmarit had quite a bit more color cast on the Nex 7 than the 'cron does, so that makes me think the same would likely be true on the A7, and also that the Elmarit would likely have more smearing at equivalent apertures.
All wide open, SOOC and onto Google+ (so some/all have google auto enhance applied).
I love this lens. It was cheap, it handles great, has a look that I like, and I don't need a $200 adapter to get close focus.
I'm not sure if I'm going to bother with any more RF lenses on the A7, now that I've really fallen for FD.

Meanwhile, that 28/2.8 v2 looks pretty great on the A7R there!
It's at least as good as on my NEX-7, I'd have no problem bringing just it on a photo walk as I really like its rendering.
And sadly, my cv15 will only be used for moody B&W's.
Could this be the smallest 50mm RF lens? This is a test of the Leica Elmar 50 mm F/2.8 collapsible lens mounted with a standard Fotodiox Leica to Nex adapter. The lens is set to infinity at F/8
"Could this be the smallest 50mm RF lens? This is a test of the Leica Elmar 50 mm F/2.8 collapsible lens…."
I tested this one along with several 'classic' 50mms – Leica, RF Nikkor, and Sonnar; also 1.5 Nokton, on A7. The 2.8 Elmar (the most recently discontinued version) came out second best to the pre-aspherical Summilux. It (2.8) showed moderate luminance vignetting, a bit of color shift in the blue channel at the corners, and moderate smearing at f2.8 and 4.
All of the Sonnar designs (new Zeiss, old Nikkors) and the Nokton produced messier corners.
I think this one might be smaller: DSC05900-2 by unoh7, on Flickr
It was wicked sharp in the centers on the R, but like many others not so fantastic on the edges, but I have yet to try it on the plain 7, where it may well excel.
I was thinking about picking up one of the collapsible russian elmar clones just to have a super-compact 50mm for the A7. They are <$50 on ebay, last time i looked.
