unoh7 - all of these photos of ski slopes that you keep posting make me want to get out of Texas for a while! Great photos and keep them coming from all of these different RF lenses.

Lovely work, Dale! You remind me what a cracking lens the ZM 25 is in the right hands.

A7 and Minolta M-Rokkor CL 40mm f/2.0 test set.
Please keep the URL shortened if you want to comment on the set or the pictures. Individual photo URLs and the set URL will not work as it is a guest pass. Thanks.

EDIT1: I see now that the first group of images in the set has wrong aperture written to them. I will fix that tonight. The second group (with the buses) is correct.
EDIT2: Corrected.

Your Cron 28 doesn't look too bad, and the CV 21/1.8 looks great!

haha wish I had one
That guy is a good shooter.

re apertures: if it looks sharp all over it's f/8 Cat is f/2

DSC03745 by unoh7, on Flickr

here is f/2:

DSC03631-2 by unoh7, on Flickr

and f/8: (at least 5.6)

DSC03629 by unoh7, on Flickr

at that aperture the colorshift seems fairly mild to my eye. reminds me of zm18 on 5n.

now I'm pretty sure the elmarit v3 is actually sharper at distant infinity, but we'll need some really comparable shots to see if I'm crazy

My first thought about the A7R, is how needlessly complex it is. But so far the sensor seems to be excellent. I have a lot of learning to do, with this camera. I wish it had some sort of "Leica mode".

A7R + Leica Noctilux aspherical, via a Novoflex adapter.

Great shots TY

I find the camera very simple myself. I never read the manual. Changed two buttons. I turn it on and shoot, either in P or if I need to control the speed: S.

FN brings up ISO options, and I'm set to turn peaking on/off quickly.

I ignore everything else

Yesterday I had the canon LTM 50/1.8: my copy has some haze.

I bought the A7R primarily for the form factor and sensor attributes. But it is a very full-featured device.

For a more minimalist experience, I suppose turning the rear screen of completely, with just a high-contrast red shutter speed indicator in the viewfinder, would be a start. Or, review screen on demand, for example.

When I first looked through the viewfinder it reminded me of some Japanese anime from the '80s, with readouts, data points, gizmos and artificial horizons all clamoring for attention. I know those can be toggled but wow it's a shock to suddenly have all this "stuff" superimposed on the image.

Shock is good, we have a lot of new technology available to us now. But I'm so used to Canon's green readout, and Leica's red one that trying the Sony viewfinder experience is jarring. I get distracted easily, which is my problem, not the camera's.

I like the A7R, it's just so very different from my personal status quo. But for sure, it's a game-changing camera.

Next, I need to try the ZM 15mm on it. The Sonnar 85 is pretty nice, too. With the A7R's sensor I can use it at night, on the street. The M9's sensor was always strained under those conditions.
