p.1 #1 · Bicycle portraits...

I wasn't sure where to post this... I couldn't figure out which of the other boards to post in, and I have more friends who hang out here, so figured I'd share these to break the monotony of complaining about things that need not be complained about. Anyway, here's a few shots I took of my dad's bicycle. He bought this bike new in about 1992, and commuted to/from work on it for a few years. He at some point fell out of the habit of cycling to work, and the bike was parked long term in the garage. A few years ago I got very involved with cycling and he ended up getting his bike dusted off and we went for a few rides together. He has since restored/rejuvenated the bike with a few new parts for a facelift. The result is a beautiful, well crafted steel framed bike that will remain a classy and relevant bike for many years to come!

Beautifully nostalgic shots! I have a Bridgestone MB-2 from around the same time. I love that bike and still remember the day I bought it

Nice work!

What a cool bike - love the fenders and grips. Nice shots - I like the choice of the tall grass setting. Maybe some people will get on their bikes and stop complaining

I like the first three (full length you could say). The extreme closeups, with the resulting shallow depth of field, do not appeal to my taste for some reason. Something important seems missing with those. I am happy that you were brave enough to post them here. I think bike portraits are a wonderful idea and I would love to see more of them.

great bike, would love to own one someday. Right now, I ride a older trek 620, nothing crazy or restored, but a nice frame I can put some miles on

That is indeed a classy and relevant bike which will only go up in value as time goes on. That being said, if he ever chooses to sell it I want first dibs!

WOW!!

I'm really stoked to see how much of a response there has been to this thread!! Bicycles are my other great passion, and I really love being able to combine the two whenever possible. Thanks to EVERYONE who has shared pictured of their bicycles, as others.

I have no shortage of bicycle pics, but I will share a few more of my project bicycle. This is a 1983 Pinarello Record, for those not so familiar with bicycles, Pinarello is one of the quintessential Italian marques made famous for their classic steel frames in the 70's and 80's. This one came from the local online classifieds, from some one who obtained it in a work for trade exchange, and it didn't suit their tastes so they sold it. Needless to say they didn't appreciate what they had because they were asking far too little, which they even dropped some more. The previous owner had used it as a winter bike, as it had rain fenders installed on it, and it didn't appear to have been ridden in a number of years. I cleaned it up and rode it as I had purchased it for about a year and a half. Over the period of time that I was riding it as it was, I slowly pieced together a new components group consisting of NOS and like new Campagnolo Record and Chorus 10speed parts. Once I finally had everything, I did a top to bottom over haul, clean and rebuild. The bike was featured on the popular blog www.cycleexif.com about 6 months ago. I love this bike because it offers the classic look of chrome and aluminum with the modern functionality of the Campagnolo 10s group.

Not exactly a 'bike portrait', this is more of a group shot:
