Actually the pictures 'sharpen' as you drink more single malt. Just be careful of over-sharpening, or you will will be blowing artifacts on your screen . . .
Now that you mentioned it ... I've always been drawn to over sharpened photos.
I like the paradox between sharp and blurry!

If that is what the announced price is going to be I think Nikon threw away a great opportunity with this camera.
+1. I was actually looking forward to at least seeing the thing. However, for that price forget it. I don't even have lenses for something like that. Hell, I'm not sure Nikon does either! for that kind of money, if I want "retro," I could buy a Leica M2 and a couple of Leica lenses. The M2 will hold its value better too. At any rate, $2,700 is just ridiculous for what you're getting here.

Beautiful camera with very interesting specs. Of course paying a bit more for esthetics, but aren't we used to that with other products that are made well and look great ?
As far as 16MP, to say this isn't enough is ridiculous. I have 120x80cm prints that I took with my Canon 5D sitting next to me that look incredible. I even have one at 60x90cm that I shot at ISO 800 - the sky has a touch of grain, but in B&W it looks superb...
I will start shooting my FM again. Nice and retro, interchangeable sensors, ISO to 1600, using Fuji sensors, there's not much need for WB. 2700 bucks buys a lot of sensors.
Specs-wise, it is a D610 with a D4 sensor, but:
- Slower (5.5 vs. 6 fps)
- Missing one card slot
- 2.8 oz lighter (1 lb. 8 oz vs. 1 lb. 10.8 oz)
- EN-EL14a battery (D3200 model) - interestingly rated at 1400 CIPA shots vs. D610's 900
- Gains a PC-Sync port (no 10-pin remote that I can find in the specs)
- No flash
- No video
I sure hope that the 5.5 fps doesn't mean that it got the D600's shutter...
