This was my first winter backpacking trip to the Costal Mountains. I set my camp for two nights up, at the base of Garibaldi Mountain. My tent was just at the right end of the glacier visible in the middle of the photo. A few days before my trip warmer weather and high winds, created interesting ice formation on the rocks. I used one of these rocks as a foreground for this photo. Watching spectacular views with great light was like a fiesta for my eyes.
Nikon D800 14-24mm@14mm
ISO 100 f/5.6
Three horizontal photos stitched together to cover wide angle of view.
Multiple photos blended for depth of field in the foreground. 500px
Lovely sunset fiesta I see here. The directionality of the clouds, mountains, and snow.. really harmonious yet very dynamic. Foreground is of particularly interesting. Your effort paid well. Excellent.
Very nice. I'm a little torn on the ice at the very bottom. I know it's natural, but maybe cropping just a tiny bit of the dirt to minimize the distraction. Or not. It's probably just fine.
wow love those colors!!
great comp too!
i think those ice spikes and dirt at the bottom make it much better than a plain old overly clean landscape shot
awesome
This is incredible and beautiful! I actually wish that you had backed up just a little tiny bit though, for less craziness on the overall perspective, but that's just personal I guess... Still stunning!
Thanks everyone.
I know that not everybody is going to like the "big foreground" in this photo. I was going for something different that would make this photo stand out and add a some dynamics to it. I tried different compositions but this work the best for me. Snow has already covered most of the elements and I'm glad I used opportunity. This area is not very often photographed and I haven't seen any other photos from this location yet.

Thank you everyone
I used three horizontal shots blended by hand (stitched) to get some distortion in the foreground but to keep flattening in the peak area under control ( second shot with the peak at the very top of the frame). Third shot for the sky.
Mount Garibaldi is one of most scenic and highest in the area. I spent two days hiking and looking for photo opportunities. My tent (not visible here)( Harry, you were close it is behind the snow ridge) was set on the ridge with spectacular views of valley and ocean 2000 meters below. Anyone interested in visiting this area just let me know and I can arrange trip ( [email protected]). Photo above was taken 100 meters from my tent . Town below in the valley - Squamish
