I was fortunate to witness this spectacular "light show" while visiting Iceland recently. Although I was cautious and deliberate in the process but only 50% of the images I took turned out to be fine. The humidity level that night was high. As the night progressed, it got colder and colder, crossing the dew point. Without my realizing it, condensation started to manifest on the front element of my lens. Starting only at a small area, the condensation grew and grew. I didn't notice that on the camera LCD first. Yes, the camera was pointed upwards and that made it even more prone to condensation. Actually, it was more frozen dew, rendering quite a few images to look like they were taken through a coke bottle bottom. Luckily, I had two camera systems and changed the two system back and forth somewhat. And that helped save the night. Phew!
This particular image was taken early on when the lens was perfectly clear. Yes, that's the moon alright and it was a little more than half that night.
Hey Josh. That is a really cool shot. Great colour intensity and wonderful reflection. It's a beauty. So this is where you hang, with the landscape folks! Come over and join us on the wildlife side sometime. We don't bite; well not most of us!! Don
