I'm really waiting for some 24 Elmar results on the A7r. I'm thinking it will be very sharp, but have some correctible color issues. If it's not OK, I guess it's the OM 24/2.8 for now...
I'm also curious about my G 35 Planar. It has a huge exit pupil and showed zero color shift on the NEX-7 (unlike the ZM 35s). The downside is it wasn't all that sharp in the corners, but that may actually be the lens. I'm also curious about how the 35 Summilux (pre and FLE-ASPH) performs on the a7r.
in fact my g28 actually outresolved the OM 24/2.8, rokkor 24/2.8, and rokkor 28/2 in the corners after f/5.6 on the nex-7 (though it did need color correction in LR while the others didn't).
So, maybe here is the difference in our judging ;-)
I like to use lenses "wide open" and dont like to colour correct pictures.
The Elmar-M 24 performed like that (even though it is just a f 3.8 lens vs 2.8 on the G28) while the G28 didnt.
Still curious to see how both perform on both cameras :-) (A7 / A7R)
Would love to use the G28 again !
The Contax Gs are the poor mans Leica´s, haha.
They were really cheap when I bought them as a set with a Contax G1 some years ago.
A year later their price went up quite a bit because of the mirrorless camera market explosion...
My first reaction: not so good, I had hoped for sth a bit better. It reminds me of my first NEX-5, a couple of years back. But Cornerfix cleaned those files up pretty well. So not all is lost.

I tested the CV 12, 15 and 21 today on a pre-production a7R. Full size, SOOC JPEGs on my Flickr site: http://www.flickr.com/photos/leo_roos/

TY sir, for those samples!!!!!
Far beyond my expections CV 21, which I've got, is better on the edges than the 5n!
Based on the photos so far, I am starting to whether any M wides will work well at all. The G28 pictures are at F8 and it isnt even at inifinity where corner problems are usually the worse. I doubt the 24 elmar or the Zm25 would work well either since both have a bit of color shift on digital M bodies. At 24mm, the kit zoom lens might just be the strongest option out there right now.

both perform noticeably better than the g28 on the NEX with regard to both smearing and color shift, so I expect they'll perform significantly better on the a7r as well. probably not up to their full potential though.

it's certainly true that the 24mm super-elmar is a better lens wide open and stopped down than the g28 (on any format), one look at the mtfs will tell you that. my point was that the g28 performs better than most slr lenses (which obviously don't have issues with ray angles) on the NEX-5N (and better than many on the 7 too), so i don't think calling it's performance on the NEX terrible is accurate at all. the g28 is an excellent lens over 2/3 of the frame easily outresolving the sensor at full aperture. the corners don't get really particulary sharp till f/5.6 (as one would expect from the mtf). the color cast is another story, i don't really notice it on the 5N so i don't correct it. on the 7 it is terribly obvious and i always correct it. luckily it only takes 3 mouse clicks to do so. sadly it looks like the g28 is even more compromised on the a7r than on the NEX-7.
i'm still curious to see results from the 24 super-elmar, zm 25/2.8, and the 28 elmarit and cron on the a7r.
Ingo, good to read you on different parts! I've got to agree with Wilhelm, though, I thought the G28 was excellent. I know you're partial with the Elmar 24, but, honestly, I don't see that much of a difference, and I shot with yours, if you recall, so I suppose that you must see what I don't…

EXCELLENT
Sorry, I guess we have a different understanding what excellent means...
Yeah, the G28 was a lot better on the 5n than on the 5 but still...
More terrible than excellent, haha.
Did you ever try the Elmar M 24 on the 5n?
This lens comes near excellent but also can't reach it.
Nontheless it is quite useable.
The G28 is indeed a fine lens but this being connoisseur territory - it signs off at the extent of the long edges of the APS-C frame - unfortunately at f5.6, and is quite unsatisfactory wide open. Will have some pretty accentuated uneveness across the frame - look closely at a suitable subject.
Not to be seen as in the same league as the mighty Elmar-M 24/3.8. Only a few get called 'mighty' and this is definitely one. It almost looks like the mighty 90AA, with corners that only drop maybe 5-10% from frame centre, right at ideal deep landscape aperture of f8. It would go quite well on a small medium format.
It's the one Zeiss need to match in its FE ultra-wide design, and I doubt they will make a wider one first up. Maybe the manual focus series though - people love the 12-15-18-21s for their shock value - and Zeiss quite enjoy shock value.
That is the older single? coated Leitz/Minolta or Minolta CL 40mm f2.0 Rokkor-M lens and successor of the Leica C 40mm f2 lens. It is the older version of my Minolta CLE MC 40mm f2.0 lens which is the latest of the Leica C 40mm f2 Summicron.
Hopefully these lenses will perform well on the Sony A7r. Mine performs well on my Fujifilm X-E1 especially after stopping down to f2.8 or f4 or more.
fantastic and tiny on film and one of my favorite lenses on the nex-7. i'm optimistic for it's performance on the a7s, but i doubt it'll be as sharp in the corners as the best modern lenses.

TY god just bought this one 350usd on RFF I thought might be good on A7r
My past GAS has be under good control---have restricted myself to crucial glass only since 5n purchase at release ( I canceled my nex-7 pre-order due to RF wide performance). I had looked at this lens for several years but usd 450 had put me off. I figured I could not really loose on this one.
The only other lenses I bought since then: 28 cron, zm18 (philber's fault, no regrets), Contax 100-300 and sel1018.
