Here's a nice compact option, not so sure about the corner quality at infinity wide open for this one though

$10 bucks say the corners outperform all current Leica 35mm lenses except the lux fle.

Want a no-compromise 28 to go along with a no-compromise 36MP sensor?

Leica R 28 Elmarit v.2. Spectacular up close, phenomenal at distance as well as compact. Cute little built-in lens hood.

Hmm. A few years ago I had 3 of the R28v2s. Way before the a7R I just received. I'm not sure I can afford another one, now ...

Due to a logictics snafu, I could only try A7 for a few minutes to compare results with my A7R. Here is the verdict for infinity shots at wide apertures.
Lenses where A7 clearly out performs A7R: 'Lux 50. Performance is better by more than one stop and less than 2. With the A7R the 'Lux is iffy at f:4.0 and useless to me before that. The A7 is quite OK, relatively, at f:2.8 and questionable but not horrible at f:2.0.
Lenses which are unuseable to me on both A7R and A7 for infinity shots at wide apertures: ZM 18, ZM 35 f:2.0, G 28, Elmar 24. Very disappointing. Else I have to get used to the idea of shooting a lot of f:8.0. But is that what I carry a 'Lux 50 and Elmar 24 for ?

To what extent might you attribute the different success with A7r and A7 w/ Lux to the simple fact that you have more resolution in the A7r, and therefore it's easier to see trouble at 100%?

Is there a verdict on the Voigtländer 28/2 Ultron yet? The little I've seen looks quite good.

Without reading through 145 pages here, has anyone tried the CV 21mm f/4 skopar on the A7 or A7r?

I posted earlier in the thread on the Voigt 28/2. Its far from perfect, but the handling, focal length, and speed are all spot on for me. If you want to shoot distant subjects with open apertures you will be disappointed.

Thanks! That's a likable image. Are you using the A7 or A7r? (I am into the A7).

I checked this image and while it is sharper in the center than edge I would not necessarily call that smearing. This is A7, I think it looks quite good:

Here's the same view with A7r. Color cast is evident and it does look softer but I cannot tell if it is just the resolution or if it means that the A7r induce more smearing than the A7.

Knowing how controversial that statement is after some 40-50 pages where consensus is that smearing is the same between the cameras I wont come to a verdict. But it would be interesting to know which camera you use

Leica R starting from farther back than the rest of the pack might give it some better angles of incidence ... but it probably compromises my wallet a bit, atm.

This may have been covered somewhere on a previous post, but is anyone able to comment on experiences with the 35 Summicron ASPH and 50 Summicron (latest, non-ASPH)?

I can only comment on the 50 Summicron Rigid DR, that is works perfectly. It sharp fully across the frame and corners, with no hint of vignetting or magenta.

The only problem with my 50 Cron (M mount; latest; non ASPH) is that it performs so well on my A7r that I hardly ever take it off to use my other lenses. But, I've always been a pretty normal guy (at least when it comes to the lenses I use).

No color cast, sharp edge to edge when stopped down a little, and the combo of the 50 Cron and A7r produces beautiful files. Thumbs up.

Is the 50 Lux pre Asph as good as the 50 Cron pre Asph? Or rather is there any 50 lux that is as good or better than that Cron?

if you mean for sharpness across the frame, no. i think the cron will lose out by a little bit to your g45 though. there are other things the 50 lux asph is better at though.

That's great news. Anyone out there shoot the 35 'cron ASPH too?
