Well, completely futile attempt at shooting the Olympic Flame ...
No filter, clean 24-70 f2.8 mk2, Metabones 3, A7R.
Tried different placements.
Other bright sources are ok, but a large one is an awful mess.
The adapter is fully flocked with edmunds (at least as far as I can tell).
Any ideas? I have a NEX-7 and will try same thing with canon lens/adapter next chance I get. I tried NEX-7 with 18-200 native lens, and it was perfect.

With all this buzz about internal reflections, why can't Metabones just upgrade their mark III adapters to mark IV, with black non reflective paint inside?
Its not like they have to design an entirely new adapter. Just add some good paint to the current version.

I've posted this elsewhere but decided to post here as well. This was taken with the a7R and 70-200/2.8L II with a metabones III adapter. AF was slow with this combo but who cares for this type of tripod mounted shot.

Amazing image! Have you experienced any shutter shock from 70-200mm on the a7R, or is that just an overblown issue?

I can't say that I've 'studied' the issue but once in a while, a lower shutter speed image shows some vibration, even if on a tripod. I don't use this lens very often on the a7R but during this trip, I did experience images exhibiting some. I was able to work around it. I more typically shoot at 100mm or less so I'm not so concerned.

Me too. Not sure what is going on with them.
i gave them a piece of my mind over email and got my money refunded. BTW I got the Birchwood Casey flat black pen (that someone here recommended) off of Amazon and carefully coated the inside of the adapter. Haven't done extensive testing but so far it seems to be doing the job.

Thank you so much!
However it definitely doesn't work on my Mark III adapter.
As soon as i take the battery out, replace it and switch the camera on again, the adapter is back in green mode.
I really wonder that it works on yours.
Maybe yours is running a different firmware?
Can't see where to check/download last firmware anyway.
Any news about Novoflex EF-E adapter ? Interested in maybe getting one to use their tripod collar to finnally be able to put grip on y A7R (still no L bracket for A7R+grip).

I just checked my Metabones's firmware and it's also v.30
It seems to be the latest firmware but there is no way to be sure unless contacting them. Updates in firmware can only be done by Metobones themselves.
According to their rep, Novoflex will have an electronic adapter to be released between March and June.
It's too bad no company decided to offer an L-bracket for the A7+grip...
Question: The Birchwood Casey Super Black (Flat Black) pen works just as good as the black flocking paper? Did anyone actually compared them?

Ouch! This the sort of thing that makes me wait for (hope for) a high MP body from Canon.
Sorry for your failed images at such a unique location.

Thankfully, I also brought my NEX-7 and a rented 18-200mm lens. After this fiasco with the flame and A7R I started using that combo instead, which of course worked perfectly well. I probably could have used the 18-200 on A7R to get better DR, but at that time I was a bit pissed off at it. Plus it was using batteries much faster than NEX-7.
Ideally I would have liked to carry both cameras with me and both lenses (canon 24-70 and Sony 18-200) but in practice, as a volunteer, I had to carry all my stuff with me in the backpack at all times, and I had little space for two cameras there. At the end, I think I was lucky I brought both cameras with me, as I didn't fully trust A7R. It really didn't perform well for me as an all around camera - too slow, awful battery life (with airplane mode). A few times I used it on a tripod during landscape shoots it performed wonderful though.

Yes I saw that on getdpi forum. But I'm not fan of having to unscrew / rescrew each time to get batteries out. It may finish by ruin the tripod socket screw on the grip :/

A lot of photographers won't like this compromise, myself included. I advised John against it but he decided it was the best design for a sturdy bracket.

Ditto on the question about Birchwood Casey Flat Black. Anybody tried it? Results? I am seeing mixed reviews of the stuff on Amazon. Leery of putting this stuff on camera adapter internals.
