I got myself a Canon FD 80-200/4 L for super nice duck shots
According to ISO, the International Squirrel Organization, no testing of cameras shall be considered complete without images of squirrels. Lots of images.

i am currently trying to get my cat, duck, and bench into position.
I'd wait until you get the camera. There's no way you're going to be able to keep the cat and duck on that bench for that long without one of them going down.

Hey Sebboh et al, the a7 (not sure about a7r) is being shown in Palo Alto today and tomorrow:
Come experience the Sony A7 for the first time in the Bay Area. Glenn Wienfeld from Sony will be in store at Keeble and Shuchat from 10AM-3PM on Friday, November 8th and Saturday, November 9th. He will be here showing Sony A7 and the RX10 and answering any questions about these new cameras, so come down and see what all the industry buzz is all about.
Unfortuantely I can't make it, but thought some other SFers might be interested...
Sure, in this shot. The kitten's just deciding which one to eat first. Makes for a cute greeting card, but the rest of the shots after this were published in NatGeo Kid's "Circle of Life" issue.

yeah, that doesn't mean i can't test one out without buying.
also, all cat, duck, and bench shots must be taken at f/1.2 at or near mfd to qualify as proper internet test shots.
Remember to place the duck in the upper right corner and the cat in the lower right corner (both at infinity), or face the scorn of internet pixel-peepers everywhere. Also, the cat should be albino, to adequately test for color cast.

I just broke down and had to preorder the A7 (not the r).
I would have loved the A7r's sensor, but pretty much *everything* else about the A7 I like more - shutter sound especially (or lack of some of it). I know people say they get used to a double-cock of the shutter after a while, but that's something I've never been able to get over, and it used to drive me absolutely batty when using my Nikons in live view.
I was --> <-- this close to going all in with a GX7 and 35-100 instead (because Panasonic knows how to do camera UIs properly), but after thinking (and thinking and dwelling and hemming and hawing), going to camera size and comparing the FE 24-70 vs the Pany 12-35, etc and knowing I could finally (hopefully) use my Minolta 24mm and 35-70 on FF, I bit the preorder bullet.
I haven't broken down and bought Sony's battery charger yet, though - I'm going to go cheap 3rd party on principle alone, because frankly I think that's pretty bastardly to do at this level of camera. Hopefully Wasabi comes out with a good charger / battery combo, if they don't have it already.
