Also beeing a nub, I have tried this myself, either loading the full Sony ILCE-7R folder or the individual *.dcp files into my CameraProfiles folder (HD/users/yourusername/LibraryApplicationSupport/Adobe/CameraRaw/CameraProfiles) but nothing seems to happen when opening Lightroom. Are the added profiles supposed to appear along the other camera calibration profiles?

Anyone?

Yes they're supposed to show up along the other profiles in the "camera calibration" menu of Lightroom. Put the .dcp files directly in the target folder. If the profiles are really the right ones for this camera, Lightroom should detect them automatically.
BTW: if you were already running Lightroom while copying the profiles to that folder, you need to restart it first.

Thank you, now they are up and running!

(I was sure that I already had tried to put the individual profile files in the target folder, but I also tried to put the whole folder there, and that did not work.)

What bags or inserts are you using to protect your a7 when carrying it around? I still haven't gotten around to getting a dedicated camera bag since I mainly take my camera on bike rides. Looking for a smaller neoprene casing or something

How is everyone triggering bulb in the A7r? I would assume that you could use the playmemories app, but I can not find the setting? I tried searching but most the answers I found were speculation.

I know I could purchase the RM-VPR1 remote, but it does not even have an intervalometer/timer for $50. Just curious what everyone else is using?

Thanks!

I'm curious too. I have yet to find a solution other than manually triggering it with a remote. Sony's time-lapse app doesn't do exposures over 30s either, so I've been told.

You could use a cheap IR remote for bulb exposures.
On the A7R, it works by setting the camera to Bulb exposure and pressing the IR remote shutter button once to start and another to stop. (At the end of your desired exposure)

I'm using this one and it works great.

I have a very similar remote. It works. I wish I could use something with a built in timer/intervalometer though, like the Phottix remote I have.

Thanks Fred. I will look into this for the mean time. I am hoping Sony will update the app so I can use my phone as timed bulb release and as an intervalometer.

I have been looking into a couple lightweight products by Think Tank:

I recently got an A7. My first sony camera, ever. I was thinking about adding a flash. I'm thinking about the hvl-43m or hvl-43am. I know I will have to buy an adapter for the hotshoe if I decide to go with hvl-43am.

What's the advantage of the LED light on the hvl-43m? Is it just for video. I don't shoot videos often.

Are there any other improvements on the newer model?

Also, has anybody tried the current kenko extension tubes for e-mount, on an FE Lens yet? If so, which lens? And does it cover the whole sensor? Or is there vignetting?

Sorry for all the questions. I'm new to sony, and I'm re-building my lens collection.

Awesome and thank you very much twoeye! I was looking at the presets panel on the left sidebar of LR looking for the ILCE-7 profiles and scratching my head

I'll have a go at this when I get home. Thanks!

I dont' know, that would be a really great price for the A7r.

It won't be long... stores are already selling the A7R at less than $1800 here.

I'm new here, so hello!

I'm not surprised that so many are being dumped, because the hype was incredible. Personally, I feel they are superb, but they are not perfect and the variable performance with Leica M-mount lenses might have proven a deal breaker for some.

Many thanks for the info...I made a preorder with deposit for the A7r, with only Philippines warranty; cash price at Pesos90,000 about $2000. $299 cheaper than US MSRP, Lens 55mmFE 1.8 is Pesos 43,00 less than $998 US price. (although the sales rep mentioned they may receive the 24-70, if they do I will get that lens).Hope they will get shipment in 15 days. Store also said metabones adapter may be around by that time too. Such a long wait since I missed getting one in the USA before embarking on a long trip here. I need the adapter to bring when I travel to Siem Reap in March.

Hi All, I can not find setting to show up the filename while priviewing the still images on the A7 lcd.
Sometimes I do test shots and take a note on some images using its filename as reference.

Thanks.

Why don't you press the display button? There are a few different displays available and some show the filename.

Only works if you have it set up right. Menu/Play Icon/View Mode/Folder View.
