I forgot how the colors and the out of focus areas and transitions on this APO are so impressive. And the ability of 1.4 just push everything over the top. i think i will revisit an old friend
My rental copy arrived today. I'm trying to get my lust for the lens out of my system without buying it.
So far, it is not going well. It started with, "This lens really isn't that big." Next, I'm sure, I'll try to convince myself it's not expensive, either.

Think how much money you would have saved if you'd just bought it all those years ago and not 'wasted' money on all those lesser 50's that are cluttering your shelves!

Ah, that's my saving grace here. I do love the lens' draw, but 50 isn't really a key focal length for me. I'll use one for portraits, but I prefer more funk in my portrait lenses. If they made a 35 that was this rewarding to shoot wide open, I might be in more trouble.

The Milvus 35 f1.4 is an incredible lens! You may want to look at that as a much more affordable option to 28 Otus. Both great options either way.

Best Wishes
I have the 35mm & 25mm f1.4 Milvus they are both fantastic. That said I have considered selling both to purchase the 28mm Otus. The Otus just has the something extra, hard to describe but it's there. Going down to take some sunset pictures tonight, maybe I'll bring one along and share later tomorrow.
