Lisa's photos are always pretty, but when I look at these, what I see are really awkward hand placement in many of the images. That really detracts from the impact and makes them feel somehow forced or less than sincere. This is actually what I see as Lisa's biggest weakness, as everything else is working so well in so many images. It's also one of the most difficult things to really get right. You can see what I'm talking about right away in the first two images. For me, that would be enough to nix them. The third image is much much better and the hands are relaxed and natural, and the model shows that relaxation in front of the camera. You get the idea... Now, to be fair, some people are much harder to direct and get to look like the camera isn't there, but you can also clearly see that this girl is perfectly capable of great hands.

Always like seeing your photos. I suspect this model isn't as comfortable as others in front of the camera and I get that feeling in multiple images of this set. Specifically her hand posture and position comes across un-natural in many of the photos.

Anyone who didn't watch the Peter Hurley headshot tutorial that was linked on the previous page owes it to themselves to spend fifteen entertaining minutes. Everyone, even the most experienced portrait photographers (myself included) will come away with something useful. It's actually very close to the way I've worked for decades, but Hurley explains in simple language why so many shots suck and what to do about them. Stand like a normal person!
