I spent a good 14 days traveling around Costa Rica in July. Our time was split between three distinct ecosystems (Caribbean Slope, South Pacific, and the Talamanca Range. Many of these are now up on my website, but I thought I'd share them here as well.
The frogs and the time exposure are really nice. The color and narrow DOF on the frogs draws the viewer right into their environment. The time exposure evokes a sense of beauty and peace. I like the bird but I love the others. Very nice set.
Terrific set, Bruce (both here and on your and Tammy's website); the latter really captures a sense of amazing animal diversity in a pastoral setting. My favorite is the first red-eyed tree frog image (from the website); strike that--actually I like the tree frog x 2 image from the front set portfolio! (that must be from a different costa rica adventure).
We saw a couple of tree frogs at Manuel Antonio but it was in the middle of the day and they were sleeping! Must be a challenge to figure out how to capture great natural light photos of a nocturnal animal! I'm headed back to Costa Rica for a long weekend next month (can't wait).
Bruce, these are awesome....the frogs are too much fun. The macaw in flight is excellent...I wonder how it would look less cropped in (assuming that's not full frame).

Thanks so much to everyone who posted a comment.
Having now made 8 trips to Costa Rica to pursue photographic experiences and subjects, areas of the country seem as familiar to me as the state parks I frequent throughout the winter. Having developed good relationships with local guides and eco-lodges, I am finding that many others have helped me to be in the right place at the right time. While many of my colleagues think that I have been nuts to repeatedly travel to the same places every other year or so, they do not share my passion for ecology, nature and photography... As a result, the posted images and those on my website really reflect a purposeful attempt to tell a story about a very ecologically complex system on the planet.
To Greg, thanks for revisiting my website. The pair of frogs you described were photographed in 2011 at the Selva Verde lodge. I worked with my favorite guide (Michael Sevilla) to find these frogs. This image was used by the Nature Conservancy as the cover shot for their 2012 calendar that they give to their members.
To Eyelaser, I wish the image had more breathing room too. The picture you see has just a tiny crop from the right (tail-end) to create a sense of breathing room to the left (head-end). While Macaws look big and easy to track, thei flight pattern was fast and interspersed by distracting elements that would conspire to fool the best of AF systems! Nearly 200 images shot in less than 3 minutes and I ended with 3 keepers (one of which was my wife's).
